Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! Thanks for stopping by as I link up with three of my favorite bloggers, Erika, Narci, and Andrea to share some of my favorites from this week. If you're new here, make sure to say hello in the comments below- I love hearing from you guys! And you can follow me on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and Bloglovin'!

A few weeks ago, my girlfriend posted this link to the funniest mom tweets. If you've had a long week, these will instantly make you laugh til you cry!

If you ever need assistance in learning how to swaddle a baby, call Robert. He was a pro back in the day, and when Ari brought down her blanket the other day, she happily obliged him in letting him wrap her up! She then demanded to be carried up the steps... the one pro of babyhood: They can't boss you around yet!

I wore my new Merona shirt the other day with a black and white skirt, and I have to say, I was pretty happy with the outfit. When your stylish AP compliments it, you know you did well! :)

Wednesday nights are tough around here. The boys head to soccer practice while the girls head to dance class. After getting everyone showered, bathed, and tucked in, I finally get to sit down to dinner after 8 p.m. I picked up the Lean Cuisine Vermont White Cheddar Mac and Cheese on a whim, and it is so delicious! The sodium content is high, but so is the protein, so maybe they somehow balance each other out?! I saw that some of the reviewers were saying that they add broccoli to this, and that sounds great!

And, if you're looking for something to cure your sweet tooth, check out yesterday's Try It Thursday post about how to make Sopapilla Cheesecake Bars!

Our sweet neighbor bought Robert a Yeti tumbler this summer, and he has been obsessed with everything about it except the $40 price tag. He found these Ozark Trail tumblers at Walmart and claims they're just as good as the Yetis. I just started using them this weekend and am hooked too!

And I'll be using one of these tumblers this weekend as we head out to soccer games and a birthday party. I should probably work on Halloween costumes somewhere in there, too! Stop by on Monday for my weekend recap, and have a great weekend! See you soon!

Try It Thursday: Sopapilla Cheesecake Bars

Hi all! Thanks for joining me for today's recipe! Grab my graphic above, and link up to share your favorite recipe of the week!

I found this recipe for Sopapilla Cheesecake Bars on Pinterest last fall and started making it around Christmas. Once I started making these, I couldn't/wasn't allowed to stop! I changed up the sugars a little bit from the original recipe, and this is now my most requested dessert- and it's so easy!

Here's what you're going to need:
2 cans crescent rolls (I do recommend sticking with the Pillsbury rolls; I've used store brand rolls, and it doesn't turn out as well.)
2 packages cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 stick butter, melted
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar

Directions:
* Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
* In a 9 x 13 pan, spread out one can of crescent rolls, pinching the seams together.

* In a mixer, mix cream cheese, 3/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla until smooth.

* Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crescent rolls.
* Then, unroll the second can of crescent rolls on top of the cream cheese mixture. Again, pinch the seams together.

* In a small bowl, combine a little under 1/2 cup of sugar, a little less than 1/4 cup of brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon.

* Pour your melted butter over the top layer of crescents.
* Then, sprinkle your cinnamon sugar mixture on top.

* Bake for about 30 minutes, until the center isn't too jiggly.

* Cool for over 20 minutes, and then refrigerate.
* Cut into bars after several hours of refrigeration. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

Thanks for joining me today! I hope you enjoy these bars, and don't forget to link up below with your favorite recipe of the week. I'll see you back here tomorrow for Friday Favorites!

What's Up Wednesday

Thanks for joining me today for What's Up Wednesday! I'm linking up with Mel, Shay, and Sheaffer to share some of my favorite moments from this past month. You should join us, and as always, please say hello in the comments below!

What we're eating this week...
We started the week with beef skewers and chimichurri sauce. You can find the recipe HERE. Check out my Pinterest boards HERE. And come back tomorrow for my Try It Thursday, featuring one of my most requested desserts, Sopapilla Cheesecake!

What I'm reminiscing about...
My Facebook app that shows me all of the posts I made on this day are so fun! It was around this time 5 years ago that we found out we were having a healthy baby girl. I remember getting the phone call in my classroom while I was teaching 8th graders. The geneticist told me the good news, and I started crying like a baby. I of course had to share the news with my kids who all started cheering. Kind of funny that 30 teenagers all found out about Ari before Robert did!

What I'm loving...
We were at a new store a few weeks ago, and the cashier asked me if I wanted to sign up for their emails. She asked me to spell my name for her, and as I was doing so, I was interrupted by my now 4 year old who said, "That's not how you spell it. It's M-O-M-M-Y." Not sure if the cashier took that name or my A name!

What we've been up to...
Soccer. Ballet. Homework. Chores. Repeat. Stop by on Mondays to catch my Life With the Lees posts!

What I'm dreading...
Although I love Halloween, I'm dreading this year's makeup requirements. Plus, Halloween is on a Monday this year, so I'm not sure how well we're going to do on getting it to A) stay put and B) come off in time for school the next day. Any suggestions on black eyeliner pencils that will do both? And any makeup remover suggestions? I've heard cold cream is supposed to help a lot.

What I'm working on...
Each spring, my 6th graders and I work on a service project during our study of Africa. Last year, we partnered with Good Steward Global Initiative and collected thousands of books. Good Steward used the books to establish libraries in Africa. They have reported that many people are visiting the libraries and showing an interest in learning to play chess. Well, you can't learn to play chess unless you have a chess set, right? So, my students are busy this fall collecting chess sets to be shipped over to the libraries established by Good Steward. If you are interested in cleaning off your bookshelves or donating a chess set or two, I know Good Steward would be happy to accept your donations!

What I'm excited about...
I'm so excited to get out my Halloween decorations! I need to stop by the Dollar Tree and pick up some more black frames. Each year, I add framed pictures of our Halloween costumes to add to our mantle, along with a caged bat, jars of eyeballs and fingers, and little spooky houses. I hate scary movies, but for some reason, I just love all things Halloween!

Slash, Ozzy, and Sharon

Sulley and Boo

Father Mulcahy, Lilo & Stitch, Wild Kratt, and Hot Lips Houlihan

What I'm watching...
Of course there's lots of reality television on my DVR, including every Real Housewives franchise and Bravo shows like Below Deck.

Robert and I are liking the new Keifer Sutherland drama, Designated Survivor.

And as a family, we enjoy Animal Planet's Tanked

Finally, Wednesday nights are our jam! We love The Goldbergs, Modern Family, and our favorite from last year, Black-ish.

What I'm listening to...
When Ari actually allows me to pick the station, I've been listening to the Today's Adult Hits Radio station on Pandora. One of the songs that keeps playing, and that I'm really enjoying, is "Fresh Eyes" by Andy Grammer.

What I'm wearing...
I'm a terrible fashion blogger, so I'm going to make this one all about cosmetics that I'm wearing.

I love dark blues and blacks for fall nails, so I'm wearing Greased Lightning Insta Dri by Sally Hansen.

And, I've finally found a product that is helping tame my fly-aways: Garnier's Power Putty Surfer Hair.

What I'm doing this weekend...
This weekend will be a repeat of last week- soccer games, chores, and catching up on our DVR!

What I'm looking forward to...
I'm ready for our 3 day weekend coming up in October. I don't have anything special planned, but it'll be nice to just have an extended break after this hectic start to the school year.

What else is new...
Santa is almost done shopping for one child in our house! Target NEVER runs deals on Lego, so when a Cartwheel coupon popped up, I had to jump on the opportunity. I picked up this Lego Nexo Knights set for less than $40.

We stopped at Jacque's Toys and Books in College Station this summer (which sadly is going out of business), and Trip spotted this Melissa and Doug Deluxe Magic Set. Last week, Target ran an online Melissa and Doug deal, so I was able to get this set for less than $20! I think this will be fun for him to learn how to do, and I'm excited for upcoming performances!

Trip still has some money left in his Santa budget, but he hasn't figured out what else he wants. Ari has asked for Lego horse sets. I also want to get her a stuffed kangaroo like this one:

Question of the month: What is your favorite fall recipe?
Trip is excited for me to start making my chocolate chip pumpkin muffins, but I've told the kids that I'm not using pumpkin in my recipes until October 1st. My favorite Crockpot soup to make in the fall is Cara at Pearls, Handcuffs, and Happy Hour's Potato Soup.

Thanks for stopping by today! Follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Bloglovin'. See you tomorrow for Try It Thursday!

Life With the Lees: Weekend Recap 9.26.16

Happy Monday! This weekend went by way too fast!

Friday afternoon started off with some fun and games with my Roo!

We had an impromptu dinner party with some of our favorite friends!

If you ever need to entertain lots of kids, throw on a 90s film! Our choice for the evening was D2: Mighty Ducks 2.

Saturday morning consisted of back to back soccer games.

Poor Trip got played almost the entire game, but he powered through despite the heat. We celebrated with some tacos at Torchy's Tacos

And since we were already on that side of town, it only made since to stop by Drew's Pastry Place. Robert loved his Italian cream cupcake, and Trip and I devoured our tiramisu and chocolate cake!

We got our shop on at Academy to pick up some more dance gear and a new Guy Harvey shirt for the winter.

Roo was in Hog Heaven at the Harley Davidson dealership. She really was born to be wild!

I tried out a new hairstyle by curling my hair with a straightener. I don't hate it!

When you're attempting a car selfie, and your husband acts like a 12 year old!

We met up for dinner with some of our favorite friends at Cypress Station Grill

And since I had to teach Betsy all about the Target Cartwheel App, we all headed to Target. Robert was a little loaded down!

"Do you accept this rose?" :)

We wrapped up our weekend with chores, errands, and studying. I hope that you have a great week ahead of you! Stop by on Wednesday when I link up for What's Up Wednesday! See you soon!
