One of my favorite families is the Aucock family. John has had a wild year of ups and downs after being diagnosed with brain cancer back in the summer of 2015. And his wife, Patty, is an amazing rock who balances work, family, and hospital visits with grace. I hope you will consider reading, sharing, and/or donating even just a little bit to help John and Patty with his medical bills. I know that the GoFundMe page shows that they've almost reached their "goal," but unfortunately, the majority of that money has already been used to pay hospital bills and there are more coming. Every little bit helps, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for considering helping my friends in need.
Last night, we had Back to School Night at my school, so I was at my campus for over 12 hours! My silver lining though was the amazing dinner I had. I LOVE Zoe's Kitchen and don't have one close by my house, so I jumped at the opportunity to eat one of my favorite meals, chicken roll-ups! I need to figure out how to make these at home. I forgot to take a picture of them, but check out my cookie!
And speaking of school, I loved my board at school this week. We've been researching how our families came to live here in Houston, so we tallied up how many students had ancestors from different countries. It's a great hook for teaching world cultures for sure! If you're ever interested in learning more about how immigrants were processed at Ellis Island, I show my students THIS website.
One of our favorite friends is getting ready to have a birthday, and she is obsessed with Kylo Ren from the newest Star Wars movie, so we searched online and found her THESE earrings on Amazon.
You all know I love my reality television. I'm so glad that Kim is back with her crew for another season of Don't Be Tardy. I'm sure people question her parenting style and spending habits, but at the end of the day, you can't deny that she's hilarious and has a big heart.
If you're following me on Instagram, then you've seen that I'm doing one of those monthly photo challenges. I have a love/hate relationship with these challenges- love them that I get new ideas and hate them that some days, I just have no clue how to meet the challenge! Yesterday's challenge was "First Day of Fall," or in our house, "Candy Corn Season!"
A few years ago, one of my students gave me my first Tervis tumbler. I use these tumblers daily, but one of them has always been odd in that it collected my fingerprints and seemed to get a coating on it. I took it to soccer this past weekend and when we got home, it was completely cloudy. Ari's was the same way, too. I did some Googling, and I thought I had found the solution. I used coconut oil and baking soda to scrub the tumblers and they appeared to be awesome! After washing them in the dishwasher though, they were back to their cloudy status. Do any of you have a tried and true tip for this problem? Please let me know in the comments today!
I hope that you have a fabulous weekend doing lots of YOUR favorite things! See you back here on Monday for our weekend recap!
