Life With the Lees: Weekend Recap 10.31.16

Happy Monday, and Happy Halloween!

My friend had this posted on Instagram this weekend, and I had to share!

Last week, Ari got to wear a costume to her dance class. I wasn't done with this year's costume and wasn't so sure her teacher would "approve," so she went as last year's costume- Marshall from Paw Patrol.

On Friday, Roo had to dress as a book character for school. She chose Jill from The Pony Scouts series. Luckily, we had most of the costume on hand and only had to alter a baseball cap.

Trip's dress-up day was all about your dream career. He went as a paleontologist again this year!

Trip got to have a friend over this Friday, so Ari and I enjoyed some calorie free cupcakes! If you have a little girl, THIS game is so much fun! Santa brought it last year, and our whole family loves to play! Target is running a buy 2 games, get 1 free sale, so scoop it up for the gift-giving season!

On Saturday morning, Robert somehow got suckered into leading Ari's team practice.

Ari scored a goal! We let it get to Robert's head and said it was all due to his coaching earlier that morning! :)

In between games, we early voted. Ari asked me to vote for George Washington and Washington, D.C.!

Trip played a good game and showed a lot of hustle!

On Sunday morning, he got to work on a poster for his friend's baseball game.

And we wrapped up the weekend with a baseball game!

If you're wondering, I DID finally finish making our costumes for tonight! Join me back here on Wednesday for The Pleated Poppy's link-up, and I'll be sure to include a picture of our costumes! Have a great week!

Friday Favorites

Happy LAST Friday of October! Thanks for joining me as I link up with three of my favorite bloggers, Erika, Narci, and Andrea! Today's post is totally random, but that's been the story of my life lately! Please say hello in the comments- I'd love to hear from you! And, you can follow along with me on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and Bloglovin'

Yesterday, I shared one of my favorite desserts that my Nana used to make. It's lots of Oreos and cream, but we call it "Nana Pudding" in her honor! If you're new to the blogging world like me and want to have a consistent post lined up, please consider joining me for my Try It Thursdays and link-up to share a favorite recipe of the week!

We had so much fun cheering on the Spartans last weekend! We're convinced that Ari never needs to go to a Disney on Ice performance if we keep taking her to high school football halftime performances!

This picture has to be my favorite moment of the week! Ari's class went on their first field trip, and her teacher took this picture. I'm totally skeeved out by blow-ups, bouncy houses, and going around in socks. While this picture shows all of those things, it also shows my child having a moment of pure bliss!

My favorite dress up day for Red Ribbon Week this week was 80s/neon day- until I discovered that maybe 98% of the students and staff went with the neon theme instead of the 80s part! AHH! My poor ESL kids- I am sure they thought Mrs. Lee was really off her rocker!

This weekend, we're planning on watching one of our favorite Halloween movies, Hocus Pocus! I also remember hearing about the movie Halloweentown as a kid, and it's currently on demand, so we might try that one, too.

Aren't these book s'mores pops awesome!? You can find the recipe HERE. I won't be making them because my aunt got me hooked on the Under Armour app, My Fitness Pal. I'll share more details about the app another time, but let me tell you this- it is getting the job done!

Have a great weekend! I'll see you back here on Monday as I frantically finish our Halloween costumes! See you soon!

Try It Thursday: Nana Pudding

Thanks for joining me today for Try It Thursday! Grab my graphic and link-up below to share your favorite recipe of the week. Today's recipe is courtesy of my favorite lady, my Nana!

This dessert has nothing to do with bananas, but we call it "Nana Pudding" since it was one of Nana's signature treats. A fair warning: This dessert was not intended to keep you skinny, and you'll want more than just one bite!

Ingredients:
* Extra large tub Cool Whip, thawed (You can use a regular size tub if you desire. The dessert will be a little bit thicker if you do.)
* 1 box white chocolate Jell-o
* 1/2 package Oreo cookies, crushed (If you use the smaller tub of Cool Whip, you'll probably use 1/3 package, but feel free to add or detract cookies!)

***Extras: I think adding marshmallows or chocolate chips could send this dessert over the top! Let me know if you try any add-ins!

Directions:
* Mix the package of Jell-o into the thawed Cool Whip.
* Crush the Oreo cookies. I put the cookies in a zipper bag and crush with the flat end of my meat tenderizer. You can also toss the bag across the kitchen a few times!
* Mix cookie crumbles into the mixture.
* Keep refrigerated until ready to serve and enjoy!

Thanks for joining me today! Come back tomorrow for Friday Favorites! See you soon!

What's Up Wednesday

Thanks for joining me today for What's Up Wednesday! I'm linking up with Mel, Shay, and Sheaffer to share some of my favorite moments from this past month. Please say hello in the comments, and click on the links to follow along with me on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, or Bloglovin'.

What we're eating this week...
We totally cheated on our vow to not eat at/drive through any restaurants! Trying to get back on track this week but still have something super yummy, we've got my favorite lime chicken recipe planned for tomorrow night. Come back to see me tomorrow and link-up for my Try It Thursday recipe. I'll be sharing my Nana's pudding- it's delish!

What I'm reminiscing about...
With Halloween approaching, I've been thinking a lot about our past costumes. I had so much fun putting together this Show and Tell Tuesday link-up about Halloween! Can't wait to share our family costumes with you next week!

What I'm loving...
This week is Red Ribbon Week, and if I partake in the daily theme, I get to wear jeans! If you're a teacher, you feel me, right!?

What we've been up to...
I love cheering my kids on at their soccer games, but I'll be so happy when practices and games are OVER! You can check out my most recent weekend recap HERE.

 What I'm dreading...
Not dreading much! While I'm a total summer girl, I do love the magic of the holiday season, so I'm really looking forward to Halloween, Thanksgiving, my birthday, and Christmas! :) Is it sad that I haven't finished our costumes yet, but I've already purchased a new pair of nutcrackers?!

What I'm working on...
STILL WORKING ON COSTUMES! AGH!

What I'm excited about...
I'm excited to trick or treat with my kids on Monday! I love that my kids are so into going as a family theme, and I can't wait to share our pictures with you next week!

What I'm reading...
So I'm not much of a reader anymore during the school year. I usually am able to pick up a historical book or a quick fiction read during the summer, but during the school year, most of my reading is blogs and magazines. Other than my hosts, some of my favorite Texas girls to read are Cassie at Hi Sugarplum!, Megan at Honey We're Home, and Veronika at Veronika's Blushing

What I'm listening to...
I've mentioned these books before, but they really are great for building emerging readers' confidence. Trip started with these books, and now Ari is digging in, too!

What I'm wearing...
I'll share some details next Wednesday for the Pleated Poppy's link-up, but here's a recent favorite outfit.

What I'm doing this weekend...
Baking, watching Halloween movies, and shopping! (Oh, and finishing those darned costumes!)

What I'm looking forward to...
I can't wait to celebrate the Christmas season! Ari was recently asking me when we could buy our chocolate Advent calendars. They're not as fancy as THESE, the chocolate isn't that great, but they always remind me of my Nana!

What else is new...
Not much else is new- I'm sucked into the season finales of all of the current Housewives! I have a feeling that some of the originals (Jacqueline and Vicki) may not be invited back next year.

Question of the month: What is your favorite Halloween memory/picture/tradition?
I love to frame pictures of our Halloween costumes to display on the mantle during the season. I think our costume as Prince's greatest hits is my favorite! I'm lucky to have a husband that gives into my every whim! If you need some last minute costume ideas, check out my Halloween post HERE

Come back tomorrow and link up with me to share your favorite recipe of the week for my Try It Thursday! See you soon!

Life With the Lees: Weekend Recap 10.24.16

Hola amigos! Hope you had a great weekend- we sure enjoyed our cooler temps here in Houston!

Last weekend, we broke our vow of being restaurant free for the month of October. We continued to break that rule on Thursday night. After a long day and a disappointing meeting, I'd say cheese sticks and popcorn chicken are acceptable!

While Ari had a friend over for a sleepover on Friday, Trip, Robert, and I busted out Clue. We had a good time, but I think Doodle needs a few more sessions to really get the hang of it. "Look Mommy! I checked off the Dining Room four times!" :)

I got some more Halloween costuming done on Saturday. Still not completed, but it's getting there. Any guesses?!

Whoever thought it was a good idea to space out soccer games by 5 hours was a crazy person. These two zonked on the car ride home.

I had some Mommy time at Hobby Lobby and gifted myself with some bakers for my kitchen this Christmas. I love nutcrackers! Feel free to buy them for me as a gift!

We went to cheer on the Spartans Saturday night. Ari loved cheering on the team- she gets it from her Nana!

Robert's school sold the cutest foam Spartan helmet, so we had to get one for T. He's been asking if he can wear it around the house!

Friday Night Lights on a Saturday

Watching the drill teams perform- pretty sure I can get away with never purchasing Disney on Ice tickets if I take her to watch halftime shows every once in a while! :)

First day to wear jeans and long sleeves this season! We hit up Chipotle for lunch- I'm now determined to make my own chicken bowls at home- it's delicious!

A little grocery shopping and then lots of homework and chores to wrap-up our weekend #JeepLife

Have a wonderful week! It's already the last Wednesday of the month! Join me back here on Wednesday to link up with Mel, Sheaffer, and Shay for What's Up Wednesday! See you soon!

Friday Favorites

It's finally Friday! Cue Vicki Gunvalson: Woo-hoo!

Thanks for stopping by today as I link up with three of my favorite bloggers, Erika, Narci, and Andrea to share some of my favorites of the week! Please say hello in the comments below- I love hearing from you all! And, if you're new here, you can follow along with me on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and Bloglovin'.

I very rarely do at home manicures because I always manage to chip the polish. For my toes, I always use Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polish because the polish dries in just a few minutes. I had been using the Clearly Quick polish as a top coat, but I purchased the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat last week and am looking forward to doing a lot more manicures! My manicure lasted the entire week, and I think this might be a nice little Friday night routine.

Did you catch my post earlier this week for Andrea's Show and Tell Tuesday? I had a whole lot of fun sharing our names and nicknames with you guys! Check it out HERE!

We've been trying to make a little bit of time after school to go outside and play. My three monkeys have been enjoying playing together and are excited for some potentially cooler weather. (It's been in the 90s in Texas since May!)

Speaking of the kiddos, Ari is having a sleepover with one of her besties this weekend and is so excited to make sprinkle pancakes when they wake up. We have more soccer games and plan to do some painting and costuming for Halloween, too!

Sorry that this week's post is so short- it's been a long week, and I feel a little cold coming on with the weather changing. If you're planning on relaxing like me, then you need an easy recipe this weekend. Try yesterday's 2 for 1 Crock-pot Flank Steak. You can eat it as tacos or nachos!

Have a fabulous weekend! I'll see you back here on Monday for a little weekend recap!
