Life With the Lees: Weekend Recap 11.28.16

Happy Monday! Only 3 more weeks until my next break- yahoo! I've been blogging my favorite gift ideas for my Friday Favorites posts HERE, so today's weekend recap is really more of a week recap.

We hung out at the Houston Zoo one day during our break with one of the kids' good buddies.

One of my favorite little monkeys!

My favorite monkey man!

The Africa tree gave me #treegoals!

Do you think I can talk him into buying a 25 foot tree?

We always love the giraffes!

It took us a while to pull them away from the goats, even though they already have their own goat, Lucy!

We watched the naughty little elephant steal food from his grandma.

Getting a better view thanks to dad!

We made cocoa Krispies "drumsticks" for Thanksgiving treats for friends.

I made some of Robert's favorite desserts- pecan pie bites.

The kids had to try on their Aunt Amy's latest creations!

I got a little creeped out with the horse staring me down.

Getting my hair done by the pro

Our Texas tree got put up in the kitchen.

And Disco Christmas is back and better than ever in 2016!

Finally, the kids were real troopers and got up early so I could take their Christmas card pictures. These are some of my favorites that didn't make the final cut, but I had to share!

I hope you have a great week and that the transition back into the daily grind is easy! I'll see you back here on Thursday- I'll be sharing some yummy holiday drink recipes. See you soon!

Friday Favorites: Gifts for the Guys

Happy Friday! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving yesterday! Are you out braving the crowds today or bundled up on the couch watching Gilmore Girls? Or maybe you're shopping while watching! :) Thanks for joining me today as I link-up with three of my favorite bloggers, Erika, Narci, and Andrea. Please say hello in the comments below - I'd love to hear from you! And if you're new here, you can follow along with me on Facebook, Bloglovin', Instagram, and Pinterest.

Today, I'm sharing my favorite picks for my favorite guys! If you're planning on hitting up Target today, you can check out last week's post HERE. And if you're looking for some ideas for yourself, check out my Want, Need, Wear, Read post HERE.

Harry's
Robert started using Harry's razors in 2015. I stole a shave one day and had him purchase me my own razor, too! We both find the razors give a really close shave without nicking our skin. A popular set to start with is the Truman Set. For $15, you get a razor handle, 3 blades, a travel cover, and a shave gel. Robert has very sensitive skin and has had no problems with Harry's shave gel. He also uses their face wash. We are now on a plan and use approximately 8 blades/month together with each blade costing under $2. I would definitely recommend giving a set or even a trial pack to the guy in your life. (And try it for yourself- you'll probably want one, too!)

Tumbler

I know YETI is super popular, but why spend $30+ when you can buy a very similar one for less than $10? My husband usually finds these cheaper in store than online, so if you're braving the crowds this Christmas, this tumbler makes a great stocking stuffer. (Or be like Robert and buy 6!)

Portable Speaker

Robert purchased THIS speaker this summer for us to use by our pool. In years past, we just turned up the sound as much as we could on our cell phones but couldn't hear much. With its Bluetooth connection, we're able to stream Pandora on it and hear our music throughout the backyard while we soak up the sun! And you can't beat the price- under $30!

Head Lamp

If your significant other is the grill master in your house, this Energizer head lamp may come in handy for these daylight savings nights. Our outdoor lighting isn't great, so when Robert grills at night in the winter, he wears this headlamp to tend to dinner. He also recommends this for working around the house whether it's fixing wires behind the t.v. or looking for stuff in the over packed garage.

Jacket

Last winter, I got the lady version of this jacket. This year, Old Navy had a 50% off outerwear sale, and I snagged this jacket for Robert for $25! It's super warm, easy to wash, and comes in regular, tall, and big sizes and 5 different colors. If your guy is like mine, he won't shop for a jacket himself and freeze in a light sweatshirt. Buy him the jacket - he may not purchase one himself, but he will definitely wear it!

Oakley Sunglasses

I will admit, I wasn't a huge fan of Robert spending this much money on sunglasses, but he does wear them ALL of the time. He purchased his through Amazon and got a much better deal than the Oakley store and Sunglass Hut.

5.11 Tactical Gear

5.11 Tactical is more of a wishlist store for Robert, but if your guy is a marksman, he'll appreciate just about anything from this store. One of the top items on Robert's list is these Stryke pants. They're on super sale right now, so head on over to check out clothing and top notch gear.

And now for the little men in your life...

Magic Set

Santa will be bringing this Melissa and Doug magic set for Trip this year. He spied it at a small toy store a few months ago, and knowing the quality of M&D's toys, I'm really excited to see him play with it and put on shows for us!

Lego Sets

Lego sets are always on Trip's wishlist, and this year, he'll be getting a few. Santa is bringing Nexo Knight sets including the Mecha Horse and the Machine of Doom. His grandparents will be helping him build up his Star Wars Lego sets, too!

Walkie Talkies

Santa brought Trip these walkie talkies last year. He has a lot of fun using them when we go for bike rides or walks and gets to wander a little farther ahead of us. His buddy also has a set, so they had a phase of calling each other on them, too! I think these could come in handy at swim meets this next summer, too!

Twistables

If you've been reading my blog for a while, then you know that Trip is a dedicated artist. He has a variety of art supplies, but time and time again, he reaches for his Crayola Twistables. They have a variety of pack sizes and also make Twistable crayons. These would make a great stocking stuffer for any little boy in your life!

Supertips

I grew up on these markers, and they're some of Trip's absolute favorites, too! These markers also come in a variety of sizes, but if your kiddo loves to draw, spring for the 50 pack- you'll want him to share with you! :)

Remote Control Car

Last but not least, your little man can never have too many remote control cars! We're Jeep people (and Jurassic Park people, too!) so we got him this remote control car for his birthday. He's asking for a Ferrari this year. Whatever you get, it's sure to be lots of fun for the whole family!

So, tell me what is on your guys' lists in the comments below!

Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you have a fun weekend of shopping and/or finishing up all of your leftovers! See you back here Monday for our weekend recap!

What's Up Wednesday: November 2016

Hi everyone! Hope you're ready for your feast tomorrow! Thank you for joining me today for the monthly link-up with Mel, Shay, and Sheaffer. Please say hello in the comments below, and if you're new here, you can follow along with me on Facebook, Bloglovin', Instagram, and Pinterest.

What we're eating this week...
We enjoyed some of our favorite Spinach Bacon Pasta on Monday night and some delicious tortilla soup on Tuesday. Trip and I are going to be making potatoes and desserts for my parents' Thanksgiving. We're making one of Robert's favorite desserts, Pecan Pie Bites, and then we're going to try a pumpkin gooey butter cake. The kids also made some cocoa Krispies turkey legs! :)

What I'm reminiscing about...
We went to the zoo this week, and it reminded me of the first time we took Trip seven years ago. I also managed to get the exact same picture 3 years later!

What I'm loving...
I've been loving the great deals at Target. I pretty much only shop there, Marshalls, and T.J. Maxx, so when great prices get even better, I'm super happy! If you're up for some Black Friday shopping this week, check out my favorite deals at Target in THIS post.

What we've been up to...
With the cold weather and new jammies, we've pretty much been couch potatoes! We're still loving Sabrina the Teenage Witch on Amazon, and I'm sure we'll be watching Gilmore Girls later this week, too!

What I'm dreading...
I love my Under Armour My Fitness Pal app, but I'm dreading inputting the calorie count tomorrow! I've been under every day for over a month and have lost 8 pounds so far- I would really like to keep it that way. We also have my birthday and Christmas celebrations coming up, so I'm going to try my best to stay within my limits (or workout for 7 hours a day to eat cake and oysters!)

What I'm working on...
I bought a new Christmas tree at Target on Sunday, so I've been working on getting out the decorations and enjoying our newest addition!

What I'm excited about...
It's almost my birthday, so I'm excited to eat myself happy at Pappadeaux, Zoe's Kitchen, and Drew's Pastry Place!

What I'm reading...
Food Network Magazine is a favorite of mine. I always get new ideas to clip, save, and try. I especially love that they organize the recipes by time. If you have a baker/chef in your life, a year's subscription is sure to make a great Christmas gift!

What I'm listening to...
Ari asked me to turn on Christmas music 2 weeks ago, and I happily obliged. We've been listening to Pandora Christmas each morning on our way to school. I especially love when Harry Connick, Jr. comes on!

What I'm wearing...
You can find me in a Merona shirt every week, and I plan on wearing a version of this outfit to Thanksgiving tomorrow.

I'm also loving my newest nail color from OPI called Got the Blues for Red!

What we're doing this weekend...
We're planning on surprising our little biker chick with a trip to the local Harley Davidson store to see some stunt drivers! We're not really sure when/how/why Ari is so into motorcycles, but it's really fun to indulge her in her biker dreams!

What I'm looking forward to...
A local massage company gifted my entire faculty with a free massage this semester! Such a kind gesture, and as the semester draws to a close, it is definitely needed. Robert and I are going to get a couples' massage tonight to relax before the holiday.

What else is new...
Santa is done shopping, but now it's time for me to get in gear with teacher gifts. I'm thinking of the best gifts possible, and I'll be sharing some ideas with you soon.

Question of the month: What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition?
I don't really have any traditions in regards to Thanksgiving. I always helped my parents peel potatoes as a kid and have always found it very easy to do. When I went to my first Thanksgiving in Robert's hometown, I brought mashed potatoes. Many of his relatives were confused as to why I would bring potatoes to Thanksgiving (we eat turkey in tortillas with dressing!) I'm a pretty good cook and have hosted Thanksgiving a few times on my own, but you can bet no matter where I'm eating Thanksgiving, I'm asked to bring the potatoes!

Have a FABULOUS Thanksgiving with your friends and family! I'll be back for Friday Favorites with some gift suggestions for the guys in your life. See you soon!
