Today's share is all about our favorite Christmas movies.

Confession: You're going to think I'm a total

but I'm not one who watches Hallmark movies or does the whole ABC Family Christmas countdown of movies. I absolutely love Christmas, but I don't have a whole lot of favorite/unique Christmas movies.

#3 Elf

My third favorite Christmas movie is Elf. I always loved Will Ferrell on Saturday Night Live, and I feel like this was one of his first big movies. I grew up watching The Bob Newhart Show with my mom, so I love that he plays Papa Elf, and my dad went to high school with Mary Steenburgen, so I always thought it was fun to see her in the movies. It's goofy and fun and has lots of great one liners! Ari's and my favorite of the moment is, "It's Santa! I know him!" (Robert is just slightly irritated by the amount of times we've said this recently!)

#2 A Christmas Story

My second favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story. I've been watching this movie for as long as I can remember! We loved this movie when I was growing up - so much so that we even watched the little known sequel called My Summer Story which is now referred to as It Runs in the Family. I was always so scared of the Santa in the department store scene when I was a kid! And since Ralphie got his mouth washed out with soap in the movie, I was always curious and decided to try it myself as a kid. I didn't think through the whole liquid Dial soap vs. bar soap situation and quickly learned my lesson! (Don't worry, I never tried to stick my tongue to a frozen pole!) We also always teased my older brother that he looked like the naughty Scut Farkus.

Aurelia was all bundled up in her coats the other day and could barely move and had a little Randy moment! Trip has a b.b. gun that always gives me flashbacks to, "You'll shoot your eye out kid!" And of course, someone is always complaining about those darn Bumpuses' dogs!

#1 Home Alone

My absolute favorite Christmas movie is Home Alone! It has everything you need during the sometimes stressful holiday season - great writing (John Hughes), high jinks thanks to Kevin, Harry, and Marv, and a great cameo from one of my 80's faves, John Candy!

As a kid, Kevin makes you feel like you're invincible and can totally take on the world and any bad guys that may come along. (He also gives you amazing ideas of how to set up a fake party to throw off said bad guys!) As an adult, you feel so much for Kate and the sheer panic and desperation that she has. I feel like every year around this time I click onto the websites with the random facts about the movie like this one HERE

I know some people think the movie is either too scary or inappropriate for little kids, but we're "bad" parents and have been watching it with our kids for years. Merry Christmas, you filthy animal! :)

Honorable Mentions:
The Holiday

Great chick flick! It's a really pretty movie to look at - I prefer Kate Winslet and Jack Black's story line over Jude Law and Cameron Diaz. It's just more relatable and realistic.

Love Actually

I HATED this movie when it first came out. It was so confusing to me as a teenager -  I just couldn't keep up with all of the plot lines! I didn't watch it again until Robert made me watch it, and I always get a good cry and chuckle out of watching it. Hugh Grant's dancing and Liam Neeson's advice to his stepson are fabulous, and as an adult, I do a much better job keeping the stories straight. (We also love that Colin Firth's love interest is named "Aurelia!")

So what are YOUR favorite movies or scenes/quotes from the movies I shared? Share in the comments below!
