Friday Favorites

We did it! We made it through the first week back to reality! Thanks for joining me today as I share some of my favorites of the week! Please say hello in the comments below, and make sure to follow along with me on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Bloglovin'.

Carmex:

I was so loyal to classic Carmex for many years, but on a whim, I picked up their newest product, Carmex Comfort Care Colloidal Oatmeal Lip Balm, and I am HOOKED! I bought some for Trip, then for Robert, and then extras to stash in my purse and at school. It comes as a stick and is way less messy than your classic Carmex - definitely gets my seal of approval for this winter weather!

Married to Medicine: Houston:

Married to Medicine: Houston was definitely not as good as it could have been, but being a Bravo superfan and a Houstonian, you know I watched every episode. The producers blatantly lied about the one doctor's house, using a picture of a home in a completely different neighborhood, and part way through the season, they changed the exterior of her office to a completely different building.

I loved Rachel's mom - she was like the Mama Elsa of Real Housewives of Miami, but I didn't really love any of the main ladies. HOWEVER, Dr. Erika said something in the finale that really made me happy. She talked about how much she loves Houston and how diverse but united we are. Of course we have our fair share of problems, but I think most Houstonians love our town and love each other. The friendships made by women from completely different cultures featured on the show didn't feel staged and was one of the more realistic portrayals of Houston, and that I can LOVE!

Blogging & Link-Ups:

I've been loving checking out so many new (or new to me) blogs in these Friday link-ups! I've been reading Lisa at Coast to Coast, Trista at The Classy Chaos, Holly at Pink Lady, and Beth at Reaching Beyond Mediocrity this week- check them out!

I loved creating the My Fitness Pal tutorial for my new Tuesday series. Check it out HERE and join me on Tuesdays for my favorite workouts. (I'm anti-gym and don't believe you should have to pay to get in shape, so if you're like me, check out the new series!)

I also loved getting your feedback on my chicken tortilla soup that I shared yesterday for my Try It Thursday link-up party. Let's get together on Thursdays to share favorite recipes and explore some new blogs!

And don't forget that my girls Trina and Sara at Moms' Coffee Date are co-hosting a monthly link-up party with me on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Here's the schedule again for Ladies Who Link:

Audiobooks for kids:

Ari and I spend an hour driving home each afternoon from my work/her school. I discovered that our library has an audiobook section in the kids' library. It's a great way to spend 15-20 minutes during our drive, and I love seeing her so into the books and trying her best to follow along.

Thoughtful gifts:

One of my students went to Hawaii over the holidays and came back with some gifts for me from Pearl Harbor. We just started our World War II unit, so it's perfect timing, but I love that my kiddo thought to pick up something on her vacation that she knew I would love and could use in our classroom!

I hope that you have a fun and relaxing weekend! See you Monday!

  3. Sweet Al! Thanks for mentioning me...I'm humbled❤️ I can't wait for your new Ladies who Link, I'm adding it to my calendar. YIPPEE!!! I couldn't agree more about paying to work out. I'm just too cheap for that and don't want to give up the extra commute time from day on top of paying. (I'm also a bit of a chicken to go exercise in front of others😩) Happy Friday!!!!

    1. Only problem we've run into so far is that some of the cds from the library are scratched and you have to finish the book early! :)

  8. I totally get watching something that features your home town! I was geeking out last year when I realized a Hallmark movie was shot in Richmond, VA where I grew up and lived until a few years ago. I kept pointing out sites to my husband and he kept telling me to calm down :)
