Friday Favorites

A short week that felt entirely too long! Hope you're hanging in there today, and thanks for joining me for some Friday Favorites!

1) Trip's art

Trip loves to draw, paint, color, etc. He's had a few of his pieces from school put on display now, and last night he had his rodeo artwork in a show. We went to see it last night, and it was so fun to see him be so surprised that he won an award for his art! (I had seen it a few days earlier, and it was so hard to not tell him about his ribbon!) His art teacher is so sweet and supportive, and we enjoyed walking around to see a lot of the big kids' works, too!

2) Ivan books

If you have elementary-aged kids, I highly recommend reading the novel, The One and Only Ivan, with your kids. It's based on a true story of a gorilla kept in a shopping mall, and you'll ugly cry from both sadness and pure joy.

If your kids are a little younger, check out the picture book version, Ivan: The Remarkable True Story of the Shopping Mall Gorilla. Ari borrowed the audio of this one from the library this week, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was neat to compare it to the novel version, too!

3) Blonde bobby pins

My hair has been a hot mess lately with this awful weather we've been having (5+ days of rain!) I've been braiding it and pinning it up a lot, and I love being able to disguise my pins a little better with THESE blonde bobby pins.

4) Dr. Simone and Cecil of Married to Medicine Atlanta

Although Dr. Jackie will always be my favorite, Dr. Simone and Cecil have a great relationship. They really do seem like best friends, and the way they interact on screen is both fun and touching. Simone has fallen on some really rough times, and it's great to see Cecil be her rock.

5) Vacation dreams

All of this rain and hot then cold mess in Houston has me dreaming of a vacation. I think I'd like to hit Hawaii right about now. If you had unlimited funds, where would you like to take a vacation to right this very moment?

  2. We plan to take a BIG family vacation this summer and I need to get on the stick and plan it before it's too late (like every other year) This will probably be our last chance to take a vacation as just the 4 of us with Benny graduating college in May. Exciting with a smidge of sad mixed in.😉 Happy Friday Allie!

    1. My colleague just took a trip to NYC with all of her adult children and had the best time! Our summer vacay is to St. Louis to visit aunts and uncles and cousins - zoos, museums, and of course we have to eat at the restaurant that Gene Simmons just opened since Ari loves KISS!
