Tuesday Training: Week 9

Happy Tuesday! I'm just dropping in to share a super quick ab challenge from Popsugar Fitness. I started last week and can already feel my core getting stronger. It says to take a rest day, but I've gone ahead and done the exercises on that day. Couldn't hurt with swimsuit season around the corner, right? Check it out HERE.

I'm back tomorrow to link up with The Pleated Poppy for a farewell to winter. See you soon!

Life With the Lees: Weekend Recap 2.27.17

It's Rodeo time here in Houston! Friday started off with this little cowgirl moseying off to her school parade.

We got home from school and cleaned up for our friends visiting the next day. I think I need to make this the weekly routine because I have loved having a super clean house this weekend! I headed to the grocery store after dinner. I enjoyed how calm the store was, but the 20 minute wait at the deli when only one person is working and the couple in front of you orders 12 different types of cheese was insane!

The kids helped put out some more Easter decorations. I got these eggs from Hobby Lobby last year on clearance and love them!

Trip and I got to work on making orange chocolate chip muffins.

I've had a hard time sleeping, so I was up at 4:30 on Saturday and sat down to blog and catch up on some shows.

I made a bow and added it to my Marshalls wreath, but I don't know if I love it. I feel like I need to add some greenery into the wreath or make the bow a lot bigger. Thoughts?

We made a French toast bake for brunch with friends.

And I made some of Robert's favorite sandwiches. I'll be sharing recipes this spring!

I paired my blush shirt with my olive jacket, and we headed out to a car show.

They had vintage tractors and military trucks.

Of course she found a motorcycle!

I taught them about "slug bugs" or "punch buggies." I may regret this later...

It was a little chilly this weekend, but we had fun driving with the top down.

Jeep hair, don't care!

Ari recently told me that her teacher said they will stop having nap time at school after spring break to prepare for kindergarten. Not sure how this one is going to handle that!

When we got home, the boys went out for haircuts, and Ari got to teaching her animals their sight words.

Robert altered a little bike and turned it into a balance bike for Ari. He's hoping to have her riding training wheel free this summer.

T got to making some origami after dinner.

After dinner, we sat down and watched the new Planet Earth series on BBC America. If your kids are super into animals or science, they'll really enjoy this show. The cinematography is amazing!

The kids hung out with their grandparents on Sunday while Robert and I ran errands and did chores. After lunch, the kids came home and FINALLY got to paint one of their toys from St. Nicholas!

Scooter races ensued in the afternoon!

We wrapped up the weekend with homework, reading, and playing in box forts. I wish you a fun and easy week ahead! Come back tomorrow because I have a new exercise to add to your repertoire for tomorrow's Tuesday Training session. See you soon!

Friday Favorites

Whew! What a week! So glad we made it through! Thanks for joining me today as I share some of my favorites!

1) Successful Sundays

Image from New Darlings

I'm not always the best at reading through my Bloglovin' emails, but this past weekend, I sat down and read through some of the recommended posts. THIS post from Camille Styles was intriguing. She highlights the Sunday night habits of people who set up their week successfully. I do most of these already, but I like the idea of cleaning out your purse every Sunday. I think I'm going to add that to my list, along with my car. It'll be nice to have everything cleaned up and packed up for the week ahead. What do you do to set up your work week?

2) Old Navy dress

My waiting paid off, and THIS dress that I was craving went on sale for under $15! I got it in the mail on Tuesday and am SO happy to have it for spring and summer! If you love it too, keep checking back on Old Navy's site- it's sure to be on sale again this season.

3) Long Island Medium

I absolutely love Theresa Caputo a.k.a. "The Long Island Medium." She and Larry have an adorable relationship, and I love that she is able to use her gift to help people who have been left with lots of questions or guilt. If you think mediums are a total hoax or they go against your religious beliefs, then this show isn't for you, but if you're open to the idea of a medium, I think you'll really like this show!

4) Revlon Eyeshadow

So, if you read my Ladies Who Link makeup post last week, you know that I'm an eyeshadow-holic! I had a grocery store coupon and had been craving some lime sparkle a la my middle school days, so I picked up a Revlon PhotoReady Primer, Shadow, and Sparkle palette in "Pop Art." The colors are really rich, and the sparkle adds a fun pop! If you're adventurous, try it out!

5) Dentist = spa?

Am I the only mom who loves to go to the dentist? 20 minutes where nobody can ask me to help them open a snack, play a game, or help them find something is basically the equivalent of a spa day for me! Sorry, bad mom! We started at a new dentist on Monday, and we had a great experience. My New Year's resolutions have been paying off! :)

Try It Thursday: Oven Tilapia

Happy Thursday, friends! Thanks for stopping by today for a super quick and super easy recipe: Oven Baked Tilapia. Tilapia is super cheap and pretty healthy, but it's usually pretty bland. I don't know how to use the outdoor grill, and I hate to make Robert grill everything for me. A few years ago, I found a recipe for baked tilapia with oranges and asparagus. We make that every once in a while, but here's a super basic recipe that you can put next to any side or salad.

A real quick note: I know a lot of people are opposed to tilapia because it's a bottom feeder and there are issues with fish from China. I recently found Regal Springs tilapia loins at my HEB grocery store, and I find these to be much tastier than your typical cheap cut of fish. You can read more about the brand HERE to see if it is something you'd serve to your family.

Ingredients:
* Tilapia loins
* Olive oil
* Tony Chachere's seasoning
* Parchment paper
* Additional seasoning if desired

Directions:
* Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
* On a baking sheet, lay out parchment paper squares for however many loins you'll be cooking.
* Put a loin on each paper square.
* Drizzle with olive oil.
* Sprinkle with seasoning. (Here's where you could add orange slices, veggies, and/or additional seasonings like garlic, pepper, or lemon juice.)

* Wrap up each of your paper packs.
* Cook in the oven for 12-15 minutes.

* Remove the loins from the packets and serve with sides such as asparagus, quinoa, or a salad.
* Enjoy!

This simple meal can be ready within 40 minutes of arriving home from work, and it's an easy addition to any of you who aren't eating meat during Lent. Don't forget to link-up below to share your favorite recipe of the week, and make sure to stop by and visit with other bloggers. I hope you enjoy this dish, and please stop by tomorrow for my Friday Favorites!

What's Up Wednesday: February

Happy Wednesday! Thanks for joining me today as I link up with Mel, Shay, and Sheaffer to share about this past month. Link up with us!

What we're eating this week...
We had oven baked tilapia to start the week, and if you come back tomorrow, I'm sharing it for my Try It Thursday recipe tomorrow. If you like to cook or bake, link up with me every Thursday to share your favorite recipe of the week! I'm also going to be baking up some goodies for brunch with friends this Saturday! Can't wait!

What I'm reminiscing about...
We moved into our house 3 years ago next week. I HATE packing and moving, but I'm so happy that we moved into our current home. We'll be here another 30 years, and I've made Robert promise that we will hire professional movers for that final move.

What I'm loving...
The weather has pretty much transitioned into full-on spring right now. I'm loving tank top and flip flop season!

What we've been up to...
We've been working outside a lot and then baking a whole bunch! Ari is getting ready for baseball season to start, and Trip is excited for swim team to begin again.

What I'm dreading...
My students have been donating books for libraries to be established in Africa, and we're almost to 3,000 books! I'm so happy to have this many books donated, but I am also dreading all of the organizing, packing, and moving of the books! If you're in the Houston area, consider donating your extra books to Good Steward Global Initiative.

What I'm working on...
We're working on the final touches for Ari's birthday party next weekend. Here's a sneak peek:

What I'm excited about...
I'm excited to celebrate the Roo's 5th birthday! I'm getting to take a day off and chaperone her field trip to the zoo the day before her birthday, so it's going to be lots of fun with the birthday girl!

What I'm watching/reading...
I just finished my 2nd book of 2017 (which is a big deal since I hadn't really set aside a lot of time for it other than the summer and Christmas break). I just started Spoken From the Heart: Laura Bush. I'm working my way through my bookshelves before I start reading anything brand new. If you have any recommendations for books I may have missed in the past decade, PLEASE tell me! I like historical fiction, autobiographies/biographies, and funny books. I'm not into scary!

What I'm listening to...
My students often have in-class projects where they hate for me to bother them, so instead of sitting in silence, we have been putting on the Beats for Studying station. It plays violin, piano, and cello versions of popular songs and gets the kids working.

What I'm wearing...
Pink and olive! I love the color combo! (These pictures obviously aren't me - they're just inspiration for now. I'll get some pics of my own outfit soon!) I'm going to put together a What I Wore post next week to highlight the end of winter clothes because I had a few outfits I never got to write about. Hopefully they'll serve as inspiration for me at the end of the year. Stop by here next Wednesday to check those out!

What I'm doing this weekend...
We're hosting friends for brunch and stopping by a local car show!

What I'm looking forward to next month...
March is Ari's birthday month! We're excited to host her birthday party next weekend and then go bowling on her actual birthday.

What else is new...
I am going to hopefully have some important meetings coming up, so I'm working on putting together nice, professional, but fun outfits for those meetings. Hoping to have more info to share with you all soon!

Question of the month: What is your can't live without beauty product?
This question is perfect timing because I just did a link-up party last Thursday where I shared everything in my makeup drawer! You can read that post HERE. I do love eyeshadow and mascara, but I think I feel most comfortable leaving the house when my skin looks decent. Physicians Formula Powder Bronzer and Covergirl Cheekers Blush in Classic Pink give me a nice glow that makes me feel a little more confident.

Thanks so much for joining me today for this month's wrap-up! I hope you'll stop by tomorrow to share your favorite recipe of the week, and then meet me back here on Friday for Friday Favorites!
