Life With the Lees: Weekend Recap 4.17.17

Hello and happy Monday! I hope you are geared up for the fast and furious last 8 weeks of school! There's a lot going on, but it'll be over before we know it. Our Easter weekend started out with some bunny orange cinnamon rolls to surprise the kids before our trip out of town.

Trip brought home a flyer for his upcoming book fair, and he said, "Mommy, I picked out some books that I think you would like to read." He handed me the paper with the books he had checked off for me, and I kind of died wondering why in the world my kid thought that I would enjoy a book called Making Bombs for Hitler!? I then asked why he thought I would like that book, and he told me, "Because you teach social studies!" It was actually really sweet for him to think of me, and the book isn't what the title implies! Phew!

We headed to Freer on Friday. I didn't know my husband in high school, so he didn't make my prom post last week, so here's a snap of him from his senior year. Tall, dark, handsome cowboy? Check, check, check!

Waiting in the drive-thru beverage and snack barn #smalltownTexaslife

We headed out to the ranch, and Trip got to work by first practicing with his Red Ryder BB gun. He has yet to shoot his eye out!

Aurelia got in on the action since she started shooting during spring break. Robert is officially sad now that we discovered that the girl is actually left eye dominant like her mom and brother! Sorry, not sorry, Robert!

Cacti everywhere!

Waiting for our turn to shoot!

Ari's goal was to make it up into her Lea-Lea's truck on her own- mission accomplished!

Back to practicing with that BB gun- working on getting that scholarship money one day!

On Saturday we worked with the horses. Aurelia loves those babies and is so calm and confident around them.

I think she could do this all day!

Selfie with Starr!

Starr is actually naughty and stubborn, but when Ari turns her back on her, Starr comes right up to her and nuzzles her to get her attention!

Riding around with Bella and Daddy = happiest girl on Earth!

I got a turn, and we had a lot of fun taking Bella around, but I am kicking myself now for not putting sunscreen on. We stayed out a lot longer than I thought, and my skin has paid the price! PSA- put on your sunscreen, no matter what!

Taking Starr for a stroll!

On Saturday afternoon, we headed to Robert's aunt's house for our annual Easter party.

These two monkeys jumped on the trampoline forever!

A little front porch sittin'!

Wish we had gotten some better pictures than this!

Trip smashed his cascarones as quickly as he found them, and this kid took forever to crack them!

Trip was the big winner and broke the pinata open for the kids, and then we headed inside for some cake with Memaw!

On Sunday, we headed home to Houston to find that the Easter Bunny had stopped by our house while we were gone!

On Sunday night, we packed away all of the Easter decorations and had some fro-yo after dinner. We've got rain in the forecast for the week, so we'll see if baseball and swim team happen this week! I hope that you had a fun and relaxing Easter break, and I'll see you back here tomorrow for week 16 of Tuesday Training! See you soon!

    1. I'm always a little gun-shy about posting about us shooting (See what I did there!? Ha!), but it really is relaxing, and I think it is super important for the kids to learn how to be safe around guns and hunting.

    1. You know, Trip has been around them his whole life, and for some reason he went into panic mode on Saturday. I think he likes the idea of petting them but not riding them. I am so proud of Ari for the way she handles herself around creatures that are so much larger than her- and they listen to her, too! It's hilarious!

  3. Your Easter weekend looked pretty perfect, sweetie! We need a pinata at our Easter celebrations!!! I love beating those things in. OK now I sound super violent. Moving on....love the time with the horses and shooting - both totally relaxing for me! Here's to a fast last quarter and a wonderful week for you guys! xoxo

  5. Happy Easter. I love how brave your daughter is around those horses. I think big animals can be a little intimidating to little ones but she seems unphased. We had beautiful weather this past week and now have storms in the forecast too. Hoping this is the last before the weather warms up for good. I'm ready for summer!

  6. WOW! What a fun weekend. I love that you guys are able to get out and enjoy nature and animals. Your weekend was a bit like my Katie's. She learned to shoot a gun this weekend too. It's rainy here too making me want to grab a blanket and turn on the TV and be very unproductive, but I need to get a move on. Happy Monday!!!

    1. My self-proclaimed nickname in my classroom is Dictator Lee because I run a very tight (but fun and exciting) ship, so I was wondering if Trip was thinking the same thing!
