Life With the Lees: Weekend Recap 4.3.17

Happy Monday all! We had a great weekend and are geared up for a super busy week ahead! Friday night called for some wrestling matches after catching up with some our shows on the DVR.

Saturday morning was Ari's first baseball game!

Her first at bat she missed all three of the coach's pitches and then got a hit on the tee. She was so proud of her hit that she just stood there until the umpire told her she needed to drop the bat and start running.

Roo got a hit during the coach's pitches during her second at bat and made it safely to first! The next player moved her on to second base. Here she is pretending that her shoes are "getting struck by lightning!"

Made it safely to second base- "Hi, Mommy!" She made it to third, and then they ended the game :(

After the game, I made Trisha Yearwood's coconut cake with Nilla wafers! A-mah-zing!

We watched the original Beauty and the Beast to prep for our trip to the movies the next day.

Robert and I had the rare date night and enjoyed a meal at an Italian restaurant and then grocery shopping! We're super romantic like that! We picked up some limited edition lemon ice cream sandwiches, and OMG- amazing! I know ice cream makes me sick, but I had to- they were so good! On Sunday, we picked the kids up from their sleepover and headed to see the new Beauty and the Beast.

So, my thoughts: Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie, so of course I was pumped for the new one to come out. Considering that the characters are humans turned into a beast and housewares, Disney did the best they could, but it was still kind of weird (and insanely long- I nodded a few times!) They stayed with the story other than a few additional scenes and songs, but I was super disappointed in the singing. The only person who I felt did a good job singing was the actor who played Gaston. Everyone else sounded pretty high school musical. If you haven't seen it yet, I'd say wait until Redbox.

We came home to do our usual chores, and I got some meals pre-cooked for the week ahead. The kids are taking swim lessons after school this week to prep for swim team season, and we're counting the days until Easter break. I hope you have a great week ahead of you- meet me back here tomorrow for our next Tuesday Training workout! See you soon!

  1. Fun weekend! That baseball game looks adorable. Thanks for the Beauty & the Beast review. I keep waffling back and forth on whether or not I should take Hank. My sister told me some scenes are violent and he may be too young for it.

    1. Yea, Ari is 5 and spent the last 45 minutes in my lap. She was starting to fall asleep too. I'd say Beast isn't too scary looking, so that's a plus, but I think the cartoon does a much better job holding everyone's attention.

  2. Yay for a good weekend! I am not going to see B&B because well I loved the animated one so much back in the day that I'm cool with that one and not changing it up like I did for Cinderella (now that I loved!) Dinner and the grocery store? Ha, girl, we do that sometimes too. Hello adulthood!!! Swim lessons, yay! Have a rockin' week!

    1. And we hit up Target, too! Super romantic, right? Cinderella was okay for me, but we really like Maleficent (even though I can't stand Angelina Jolie!)

  3. I swear there is nothing cuter than littles playing ball, lol! Shes so darn cute...

I'm bummed you didn't like Beauty and the Beast, we haven't seen it yet and it was also my fave Disney movie.

Seriously, how do you not eat the ENTIRE cake?? Yumm!!

    1. Well, technically I make the cakes for Robert to take to his work each week, and we sample 1/3 - 1/2 of it! I had to have a come to Jesus talk with myself last night and have changed my goal on my My Fitness Pal app, so now my calories are super limited and I'm sad already!

    2. I've been doing this 5:2 eating plan where you eat pretty "normal" 5 days a week and then on 2 days your calorie intake is 500-600 calories. It's rough at first, but I feel so much better when I do it.

WOW...you are so right. Our thoughts on B and the B were TOTALLY OPPOSITE and I couldn't help but chuckle. Maybe you'd have liked it better if you'd been in the reclining seats like we were...LOL. You guys will make awesome empty nesters WAY DOWN THE ROAD. Your date nights sound as exciting as ours. ❤️

    3. 500 calories for a whole day!?!? How are you alive!?! Even a spinach salad and a Think Thin bar for lunch each day still take up over 200. You are very committed, my friend- I love see food- I see it, I eat it! :)

    1. It was so good and made out of Nilla wafers instead of flour! Delish! Safe travels!

  5. She looks sooo cute in that baseball jersey. I was wanting to watch Beauty And The Beast, this weekend while we were out of town, but the kids picked The Boss Baby instead... so I will have to wait and see it when it comes out on video. It's one of my favorite Disney movies as well, so I'm a bit skeptical.

    1. Oh no- Ari has been asking to go see Boss Baby, and we've been putting her off for a while now. I like Alec Baldwin but it looks like it won't hold my interest. Apparently I'm one of the few that wasn't crazy about Beauty and the Beast- so you'll have to see for yourself.

  6. NOOOO I'm so sad to hear that you didn't love Beauty and the Beast. I'm so worried that's going to happen to me since my expectations are so high. I really need to go see it!

    1. I'm in the 2% who did not enjoy it, so you'll definitely have to see for yourself! My 5 year old was super restless for the second half, so it may be better to watch at home if your kids are going to see it.

  7. Ari looks SO CUTE in his uniform! That cake looks so good and I've never heard of making one with vanilla wafers! Neat!

    1. Thinking warm thoughts for you- I actually detest snow- I don't find it pretty or appealing in any way! Give me a beach scene all day, every day!
