Life With the Lees: Weekend Recap 5.29.17

Happy Monday, and Happy Memorial Day! Thank you to all of those who currently serve or who have served our country. I am forever grateful. There are so many wonderful quotes at the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C., but this one from President Truman is most fitting for today:

So last week I decided to try the whole "I sleep in wet buns, and my hair just turns out super beachy the next morning" trend. I followed the directions and made three buns.

After 12 hours, my hair was still soaking wet, and I looked like I was dressed up as a clown for Halloween! Pinterest fail!

Trip celebrated his last day of second grade on Thursday!

And Ari went as a veterinarian to her last day of preschool which was also Career Day! I cried earlier in the week when saying goodbye to our daycare manager. I've been dropping off my kids there every day for 8 years. It's so weird to think that we will never drive there again.

My sweet 6th grade team threw me a going away party with a Disney theme and some amazing Disney gift cards to help us on our trip next summer! We had a great time at Brio, and the food was delicious! My awesome social studies team threw me another party the next morning and spoiled me rotten again! It is definitely hard to say goodbye to such great people!

Apparently my students think I like chocolate. I don't know what makes them think that! :)

Yesterday, I made BLT pasta salad to go along with our Instant Pot French dip sandwiches! I love this as a side, and I'll be sharing the recipe with you this Thursday for my Try It Thursday link-up party. Make sure you link up with me to share your favorite recipe of the week!

This is a little "meme" I made last summer, but I'm happy to report that I'm back in my chair for the next few months! We had some nice weather yesterday, so I got some good magazine reading and swimming in with the kids. We're supposed to have storms today, but if they blow by, we'll be back at it later today.

I hope you have a great rest of your weekend! I'll be back tomorrow with a great bikini-season Tuesday Training session for you. See you soon!

  1. Endings are so hard and man-o-man are you having quite the convergence. I'm so happy all your co-worker friends made you feel special. That's a reflection on you and what you mean to them❤️. I've been wanting to try the messy hair bun thing too but I also know my hair would NEVER dry over night. If I even put it in a ponytail damp it will still be that way at the end of the day. It's way to thick for that. I might have to partially dry it and try it sometime. Have a great day today!!!

    1. I've had a super sweet ending to my time at my school. I really don't want to go to work tomorrow though after this taste of summer and give final exams. Blah! I'm calling BS on some of those bloggers that claim the hair trick works. The way some of their hair is wavy that close to their faces- they obviously did their hair with a hot tool.

    1. Well, I've gotten two compliments on my hair this morning by trying something new. I air-dried my hair last night and then put some hot rollers in for about 10 minutes. I finger combed the curls and went to bed. This morning I brushed my hair out and put it up half-way and am really liking it!

    1. Try being in Houston with our humidity! Agh! I'm liking my hot rollers at night right now- a little different than what I'm usually sporting, and once my break starts, I'm basically in a hat outside all day!

  8. Girl I am with you on the beach hair thing! I tried that wet bun thing and I too woke up with still wet hair and a whole pile of frizziness. I have just accepted the fact that I was not blessed with wash-n-go hair!

    1. You're the queen of hairstyles though! I bet you can figure out a way to pull it off- Aside from having 5 different hair textures, I also have about 3 cowlicks on my head. Agh!
