Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! Anybody else out there feeling like this? Ugh! Make them stop fighting about EVERYTHING!

While my children fighting isn't a favorite, I do have a random assortment of treasures for you today!

1) Xhilaration dress

I am loving the colors and patterns in the new Xhilaration dress line! I picked up THIS dress with the Cartwheel deal, plus my Red Card savings, and my Cartwheel Perks coupon, so I ended up getting it for $8 instead of $25! I was a little nervous since it is considered a body-con dress, but I sized up to give me some wiggle room (and because I always worry about the dryer!), and I love it! I can wear it now and in the fall. It can easily be belted or worn under a denim jacket.

2) Merona heels

Shelly at The Queen In Between has been raving about Target's shoes all season! I tried THESE on in the store, and they are currently on sale for $25. They're in my cart - should I pull the trigger? If you like them too, I'd suggest sizing a half size down.

3) Blue nail polish

I hopped on the blogger bandwagon and picked up a new blue nail polish. If you've read here long, then you know that I am not one to spend $10 on a bottle of nail polish. I love Sally Hansen Insta Dri, but I went with Sinful Colors and picked up Sail La Vie for just $2! I have always had success with Sinful, and I feel like they offer a wider range of colors than Sally Hansen. You can find it at Target, Walgreens, or your local grocery store.

4) Sunscreen pill

Have you heard of Heliocare? I went in for my annual skin check, and since I've had melanoma in the past, my dermatologist recommended that I start taking Heliocare. Apparently it's an over the counter supplement that is made of a special fern plant, and it is supposed to help give you added protection against the sun. My doctor reminded me that it is not in place of sunscreen but can be helpful for people who have a history of melanoma. I'm torn because it seems a little expensive and has mixed reviews, but at the same time, my doctor isn't making any commission since I'd have to buy it at Walgreens or on Amazon, so I feel like she was encouraging me to take it to truly help me. Do you have experience with Heliocare or know anyone who has used it?

5) Spread the love

Don't these look awesome? Find the recipe HERE!

I was super proud of Ari the other day. A few Christmases ago, we took appetizers and cookies to our local fire house. Ari randomly asked when we could take treats back to the firemen. I thought it was a great idea, and with the 4th of July coming up, it's the perfect time to treat some of the men and women who help keep our community safe, especially during the sometimes hazardous holiday. We're going to bake on Monday to drop off some fresh treats to the guys on call, and I encourage you to stop by your local firehouse with a plate or two to say thanks.

    1. Thanks, Trista! I fall into routines of painting nails and then fall out. I love that it is $2 and lasts over a week!

  2. I LOVE that dress and I think it would go perfectly with those sandals. Interesting on the potential supplement/pill- let me know what you learn. I had skin cancer this past year and I am a sun worshiper so interested in hearing more. Have a great 4th!

  5. I've never heard of Heliocare before. I didn't even know you could buy sunscreen protection as a pill. I feel like it could have come in handy a few years ago when I was on super strong acne medication that made me burn basically anytime I was in the sun. Love your 4th of July treats for the firefighters!!!

    1. I had never heard of it either- my doctor also suggested it for the same reason. My colitis medications make me sensitive to the sun (and it doesn't help that I'm the whitest human being on the planet), so I'm toying with the idea of giving it a try.

    1. So I painted my nails last Friday and I'm still good- no chips yet! I love the red bottle of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri top coat because I'm so impatient. I think it really helps extend the color life.

  8. Baking treats for the firemen is such a sweet gesture. You have a very generous and thoughtful kid, just like her Mama. I love the blue nail polish on you. Hope you guys have a great weekend!

  10. What a great idea to deliver goodies to the Firehouse!! I picked up some more 4th of July M&Ms this morning before work and plan on making a similar recipe for our party this weekend! I swear we're wearing the same color but different brand of polish! Mine is on my toes, tho! Have a great Independence Day!!

  11. Those sandals are soooo cute! I'm trying to just ignore them because I need another pair of sandals like I need a hole in the head. Lol. Have a great weekend, girl!

    1. LOL! I ended up getting them for an extra percentage off the sale, so they were $20! I hold back a lot, but I felt like $20 was a decent price to pay. Hoping I get to keep them once they arrive!

  12. I need some Target sandals in my life! I think if the sandals you tried were comfy then you should press the checkout button! $25 is a good deal for cute shoes.

  13. You know I love a good meme and that one is FUNEEEE!!! I really like those shoes...DO IT!!! Cute blue nail polish. I think I have a fluorescent orange by that brand. Those treats looks delish (and of course my mouth is watering and I'm not sure but I think my stomach is crying) I've got a bag of red, white & blue M&M's I'm going to make some kind of yummy something with. I just love that Ari asked to take treats to the fire fighters again❤️ Happy Friday friend!!

    1. We picked up some red, white, and blue Rice Krispies to add to the firehouse treat pile- love all the Americana! I scored the shoes, and we stopped to pick up some white Sinful nail polish to do the Roo's nails this weekend. Happy Saturday!

  14. I love the meme about kids fighting. I just wrote in my 5 on Friday post that my one-year-old nephew and three-year-old niece can't even make it through storytime without fighting.

The M&M bars look amazing! Happy Friday!

  16. They did an amazing job on that door!! I want a new front door so bad..but I do not want to shell out that kind of $$. I'm not a bahama bucks fan and my kids love it. I like a traditional snowball type snowcone and I'm good. Even when I ask for light syrup I still feel like it ends up way too sweet.
