Life With the Lees: A Summer's Week Recap 6.19.17

Happy Monday! I got to sleep in this morning and am so refreshed! Swim team is finally over, so it'll be nice to not have to be anywhere first thing in the morning for the rest of the summer. Last week, we enjoyed some more night walks. One of the parks in our area has a little gazebo that Robert says makes him feel like we live in Stars Hollow and makes Ari demand a waltz or two.

The kids love this playground, especially the seesaw and monkey bars.

We made THIS chocolate copycat Nothing Bundt Cake, and it was okay- we liked the lemon one we made a few weeks ago better.

This kid's hair in the morning is quite something- gives new meaning to the phrase, "I woke up like this!"

I taught the kids how to swing independently last week, and I can't get Ari to leave the playground now!

Robert went to build fencing at our ranch, so my cowgirl decided to tag along. We just bought the kids their own suitcases, so she was super excited to take her bag on its maiden voyage!

Triple and I got some great bonding time in over the weekend! We started Thursday night with tacos and chips by the pool and then met up with friends for some late night swimming at our neighborhood pool.

A lot of ladies will tell you that The Real Housewives are their guilty pleasure, but they're just my pleasure! Trip and I share a love for my true guilty pleasure- Lone Star Law on Animal Planet. I wanted to be a customs agent when I was a kid, so I think that's part of the attraction to this show for me.

On Friday morning, I had to go into the dentist and get a temporary crown made. I had horrible teeth as a kid, and I'm paying the price well into adulthood. They had to stop halfway through the procedure and give me extra numbing shots. I couldn't feel my face for another 12 hours- my smile was so crooked!

Later, we went to go see Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul and then picked up some snacks for our swim meet at Trader Joe's.

To fuel up for the meet, I made spinach bacon pasta for our Friday night dinner by the pool. I went to add some pepper and accidentally opened the spoonful section! #Doyouwantsomepastawithyourpepper?

While Robert worked at the ranch, Ari took riding lessons with her Lea-Lea's neighbor. She had so much fun and looks like a natural. Is it any wonder she wants to be a veterinarian?

We had the longest swim meet ever on Saturday - like 9.5 hours long! This was Trip's first year to swim butterfly, and he placed 6th in the entire division and shaved off 3 seconds from his PR!

He and I celebrated with dumplings and lo mein at our favorite Chinese restaurant, and then he had a friend spend the night while mom caught up on the DVR.

We woke up early on Sunday to hit the science museum, and then we finished up our mom/son weekend with some Torchy's Tacos and a slice of Bayou City Mud Pie at The Chocolate Bar!

Robert and the Roo returned home, and we celebrated Robert with a flank steakroot beer floats and a night swim!

I hope you had a great Father's Day weekend! I'm going to hopefully sleep in a bit today, and then I'm off to my annual skin check. I'll be back tomorrow for week 25 of Tuesday Training. See you soon!

    1. We definitely have to get better about it during the school year- I think we make up for our lack of walks in the summer and will take 1-2 a day. We also have to get our pup to lose some major weight!

    1. I know! I think learning to swing is on the list of things parents pray happens sooner than later, just like potty training and riding a bike! I'm devouring my book for history book club- it is so interesting! Have a good week!

  5. What a fun week! I hate when I do that with the pepper or the salt. Teaching kids to swing by themselves is the best, and so is when they learn to tie their shoes. Happy Monday!

    1. Yes! I'm going to have to teach Ari how to tie shoes sooner or later- I was a bad mom and let Trip switch back to velcros this past year because he kept tearing apart the shoelaces- he's definitely going back into shoelaces next year!

  6. I'm thinking your kids each got to make a lot of fun memories this weekend. Super sweet! I.hate.novocaine! Bless your heart having your face numb for so long. If you hadn't said your smile was crooked, I'd have never noticed. Major congrats to Trip on shaving off the time on his FLY...so awesome. I'd say summer has really started for you now. Enjoy your mornings!!!

    1. It was horrible, and she accidentally touched the numbing cream to my lip, so I had an interesting time eating lunch! Trip had a rough few swims and then kicked it up a notch for that fly- he wasn't even in the fastest heat and still managed to slide into the top. I'm so thankful that the season is finally over though. We definitely took it easy today!
