Life With the Lees: A Summer's Week Recap 7.10.17

Happy Monday, friends! We had a great week of celebrating America and our Doodle! On Monday, we baked up some treats for our local firehouse.

Patience is a virtue and may sometimes lead to spoons to lick up the leftovers!

I love the cards that the kids made for the firefighters!

They decorated their bikes for the next day's parade.

Love taking a moment to just watch my people doing things they enjoy!

Our nearby golf course shot off fireworks on the 3rd, so we went to watch with friends and then were up early on the 4th to get ready for the parade.

The kids rode their bikes in the parade, and Robert and I walked the route. We headed to James Coney Island for a late lunch and gobbled up hot dogs, tots, and onion rings.

We swam at home for a few hours, and then the Roo asked me to do Minnie Mouse ears for her hairstyle. If you have a little girl that loves Disney, watch THIS video tutorial!

Robert and I have been trying out various burger knock-offs, so we made In-N-Out sliders for dinner.

After dinner, we headed to our friends' house to shoot off fireworks.

We ended the week with lots of errands, including a trip to Lowe's and Home Depot. Minnie found her Mickey!

We're looking into getting blinds for our living room and explored lots of different options.

I spotted a chandelier that I'm in love with for the dining room and found a paint system that I'm considering using for our coffee table.

Ari's expression of the summer is, "Oh cheeseballs!" Robert wants to indulge her and buy the giant tub, but mean mommy removes them from the cart every time!

I went out to dinner with friends on Friday night, and it was fun to get out and not have to dish out food or try to entertain anyone! We went to a restaurant close to my new school, and I'm so excited to start on my new venture soon!

When I got home, the kids wanted to watch music videos, so we turned on some Def Leppard for everyone to get their rock on!

On Saturday morning, I assembled Trip's ice cream cake for his party later that day.

"Mommy, watch this! I learned how to do arm farts." Welcome to mom life!

Ari had a sleepover at her grandparents' and the drive over was just slightly hot. Don't worry! We cooled off to 103 degrees a few minutes later!

We spent the rest of Saturday taking Trip and a few close buddies to play at Main Event and then had a sleepover. It was without a doubt, the easiest birthday party yet, and I think they had so much fun!

We spent Sunday re-cooperating, skipped out on the week's grocery shopping, and picked up an easy dinner instead! I'm going to be taking my first class in my new school district this week which is exciting, and then we're going to celebrate the Doodle's actual birthday later this week.

I'll see you back here tomorrow for Show & Tell Tuesday and Tuesday Training! See you soon!

    1. He's excited- it's definitely a big birthday for him! I'm so sad because Target is supposedly getting rid of Mossimo and Merona- I'm going to miss all of their great tees and dresses!

  3. Fun weekend for you! You should check out Blindster.com for blinds. We felt they were cheaper than Lowe's. Also, we used that exact Valspar paint. I hope your class goes well at your new school! When can you get in your classroom?

    1. Ooh- haven't heard of them- thanks for the tip! I start my social studies PD on July 31st, so I'm going to ask them then if I can move in those 2 weeks before official staff development starts. Fingers crossed!

    1. Oh lord, and then the back of the knee farts- agh! I'm horrible at hair, but I'm trying out as much as I can before school starts since I doubt the kindergarten teachers will re-do her hair like our preschool teachers did!

    1. I can't decide if I should do that 3 step system or do the easy Annie Sloan 2 step system. I think the pricing is going to work out to be fairly similar, and I really like the results I've seen with Annie's paint. Hopefully I can knock out some projects soon! I want that chandelier but just bought a mattress on Amazon for the deals week and am going to focus my energy on re-doing the guest room.

  8. Wow! I don't know where to start. For the record, I'd like to be one of your kids, lol. They are always so happy and have such a love of life. The only one of these things I don't want to sign up for is that temperature. NO THANK YOU. We may have long winters here up north but I don't think I could handle those melting temperatures.

  9. Oh girl, you just get the good. There's a LOT of bickering, telling them to stop touching each other, separate and play alone, etc.
