Life With the Lees: A Summer's Week Recap 7.24.17

Hey there! Happy Monday! I hope you're enjoying your summer- we definitely are in the Lee house! We decided to have breakfast for dinner on Sunday night, and although I set out to make a creme brulee French toast, I kind of forgot about that part where you let the bread soak for 8 hours! #oops We made some skillet toast instead and added orange zest- yum!

Trip had his annual check-up on Monday morning, and then we packed up and dropped the kids off with their Lea-Lea for the week!

During our child free week, I did a lot of browsing and a little buying at Marshalls, Home Goods, TJ Maxx, and Ross. We're going to decorate the guest bedroom eventually, and I found these orange curtain panels that are a perfect fit for the room. I have only found one set of panels though! If you're local and find another pair, holler at me please!

I made a master list of everything we needed for back to school, and I've budgeted to pick up a few new tops for school. I got this top by Violet and Claire at Marshalls - I love the color combos!

And with hesitation, I tried this cross front tee trend and actually really liked it, so it made its way into my cart!

Robert and I mixed up our date nights with lunch dates, and we stopped by Drew's Pastry Place after lunch one day to get tiramisu for me and a cannoli cake for Robert. We met Drew's mom who was so sweet and chatted with her about their experience on Buddy Valastro's Bakery Boss. She said he and his crew were absolutely amazing and such down-to-earth people.

Don't worry- the kids were having a fun week, too!

The date nights continued, and it was fun to just sit at the bar and split an appetizer or one plate and call it a meal when chips and salsa are involved!

The new top made an appearance already!

We hit up Target to buy snacks for our roadtrip and to take advantage of the Mossimo Cartwheel deal on clothes. I'm going to miss this brand so much! I got these ballet flats with my perks coupon for just $10! Watch for upcoming deals, as I'm sure they'll have some back to school sales, and size down a half size.

We had a date night at home on Friday with steaks, potatoes, and Pandora pool-side.

After my Saturday morning run, I took advantage of the sale at our local teacher supply store and got to use the awesome gift card from my former teammates! We celebrated our final kid-free dinner at Pappadeaux - shrimp for Robert and oysters for me! I could eat fried oysters at EVERY meal- so good! We wrapped up our week with a trio of pizzookies from BJ's. I told Robert that I love him, but I'm so glad our date week is done- my waistline doesn't need any more cakes, cookies, or fried foods (oh wait, we're going on vacay- agh!)

The kids got home, and Ari got to work prepping the dogsitter for her duties!

We wrapped up our week with swimming and dinner with friends and a little Shark Week!

Thanks to everyone who completed my blogiversary survey! We'll be pulling a winner from a hat today on Instagram, and I'll contact the winner later today! See you back here tomorrow for Tuesday Training and Show & Tell Tuesday! Have a great day!

    1. We had a great week! Oh my goodness- the Italian pastries are so good- I don't think a lot of Texans get it unless they're transplants, but those Italians sure know what they're doing when baking!

  4. Your tops are cute, cute, cute! I love those cross strap tee's. We've got a BJ's just down the road (same shopping ctr as Katie's Starbucks, yes..it's Katie's...LOL) Those pazookies are soooo good!!! I'm so glad y'all enjoyed your week and the kids did too. I'll keep an eye out for the curtains out here too if you want. I hate it when there's only one of something I need. I went through that recently with throw pillows. So frustrating. Have a great week!! OH, Ari's instructions are priceless❤️

  6. I am so jealous that you got to have a kid-free week!! I don't think I could be away from my babies for that long, but MAN, to have that much free time all at once would be amazing! And you look great in the cross strap top! I love that look!

    1. Eh- I used to think the same, but then we ended up going a day or two without a check-in because we just got busy with projects and dates! It was good for everyone!

    1. Thanks, Cara! And thank you for the lunch email- sorry I never got back to you- we're crazytown right now. I think I'm going to take advantage of the grocery store right next to my new school and pop in on Fridays for a small load of weekend meals so I don't have to extend my Sunday purchases that long anymore.

  8. Such a fun week - tiramisu might be my favorite but I can't seem to replicate it at home ;)! That might be a good thing! I love all your TJ maxx finds. What is the rewards deal with cartwheel I think I am missing something important and is Mossimo being discontinued???? Xoxo Erin

    1. So the Perks program was a trial they did in Houston and a few other cities. Basically, we got free stuff for using Cartwheel so often. I think they lost money on the deal and are ending it next month. I still scored a pair of new shoes for $10 though! Woohoo! Did the Target gift card email come in yet?

    1. Thanks, Holly! So from what I've been reading, Target is phasing out Mossimo and Merona and replacing them with different brands- like what they did to Circo/Cherokee with the Cat and Jack line. :(

    1. I almost thought about doing a brunch date with Robert, but half the time, we make better breakfast foods at home than the restaurants! We definitely had our fair share of tacos, queso, and tres leches cake!

    1. Thanks, Trista! It was nice to have one-on-one time this past week as we gear up for our big trip this week. I think it made the kids miss us, too, so hopefully they'll be extra lovey and well behaved, right!??

  12. Creme Brulee French Toast? You need to do a recipe post on that! Sounds delicious. What a wonderful week, it's so nice to steal some one-on-one time with the hubs. And the desserts...pizzookies...I've never even heard of them! Have a great vacation!

    1. Eh- the pizzookies were basically a TGIFriday's or Chili's type dessert. We found the most amazing tres leches cake though, and I've been dreaming of it ever since!
