Life With the Lees: A Summer's Week Recap 7.3.17

Hi! Happy Monday, and happy July! I can't believe tomorrow is already the 4th! Our past week was busy with appointments and house projects. The kids and I made unicorn slime on Monday. I don't think the recipe we used gave us the results we wanted but it has been fun to play with the past few days.

I got super behind in my magazine subscriptions this year, so this week I sat down and went through the ones that I had read and pinned anything that I had dog-eared to save. I now have lots of new recipes and makeup to try!

Last week, I mentioned that Ari was really digging the Kate DiCamillo beginner chapter book series called Mercy Watson. Any chance she gets, she grabs one of the books and reads to me. She is already on the third book, and although I shouldn't encourage bragging, Ari tells every single person she sees that she is reading "chapter books."

I wasn't in the mood to cook dinner one night, so we hit up Rudy's BBQ and then stopped by Bahama Bucks. Look at that concentration!

Slightly distracted...

A trick shot? A Trip shot?

Brain freeze!

I haven't had a snowcone in a year, and I don't think I need to have one again in the near future. Too syrupy for my belly! Ari loves birthday cake flavor, and Trip got lemon-lime.

The week also included a few walks through our homeland, Target. You know, just a brother and sister helping each other try on fairy wings!

Neither of my kids feel a need to dress for the weather (or the season!) and can pretty much always be found in long jammies.

On Friday, the movie requested was Fantasia. If you need 2 hours to work on a project by yourself, turn this movie on! They were captivated by it!

Robert and my dad got to work on our front door.

After meeting up with friends at the pool, the kids scootered and biked up and down the sidewalk and driveway. We also had our annual check in from the pest control company. Gotta keep any potential critters away (unless they're cute like this kid!).

Jagger and I hung out in the shade and watched.

Saturday brought more errands and more reading- she is hooked!

I saw this magazine cover in line at Target, and I HAVE to try it! Doesn't it look delicious? I found the recipe online HERE!

We've had awesome weather lately, so we hit up our pool for an afternoon swim.

Sunday brought more chores, errands, and projects. The kids got out the 4th of July decorations and got to work in the yard while the dog took up his usual spot. Doesn't the door look nice? Robert and my dad did a great job, and I'm so thankful that they did that to save us $900!

Tomorrow, we are headed to our neighborhood parade, so we're going to decorate the kids' bikes today and bake some treats to take to our firefighters this afternoon. I'm popping in tomorrow to share a great pool/beach-ready workout with you for Tuesday Training. If I don't see you 'til later this week, I hope that you have a super safe and fun holiday tomorrow. See you soon!

  1. Your front door looks fabulous! I love catching up on magazine reading in the summer! I just recently recycled some old ones and just last night we walked two magazines that I just read back to the library drop off. I love to borrow from the library since it's free!!

    1. Thanks, Beth! I was hoping to read something different today when we were at the car place but everything was geared to men. It's summer- I don't want to read Money Magazine! Have a great 4th!

  2. Your house is GORGEOUS! I don't think I've ever seen the front of it before. They did a great job. Ari should be very proud of her reading. That is a great accomplishment.

    1. No joke, Lauren! There are definitely some dummies in this world who are not safe with fireworks and cause unnecessary harm to others. It was cool because they were doing truck checks when we got there today, so we got to watch them test their ladder. Have a wonderful 4th!

    1. Thanks, Lisa! I'm so thankful Robert and my dad did the door- it cost $40 instead of $900! I wish I could hang my 4th of July star on the door but will have to wait a while longer. Hope you all have a fun 4th!

    1. We got all of our flags from my parents when they moved to their townhouse a few years ago, so we are hoping to find a bunch of new ones on clearance later this week after the holiday to save for next year. Hope you all are having a fun 4th!

  7. What a great re-cap. Your door looks great! Good to know about the movie, I will have to remember that for Friday night :). Slime is a favorite around here too. The kids love it and love making it. I hope you have a great 4th with your family!

    1. Thanks! I semi-watched the Lego Batman movie with Trip yesterday afternoon and was not as into it as the first Lego movie, but the kids thought it was hilarious. I think I used too much Borax in our slime, so we will have to make another batch to try to get the consistency just right. Have a great holiday!
