Hi! Happy Wednesday! Thanks so much for joining me today as I link up with Andrea at Living On Cloud Nine- I'm so excited to share the contents of my first Ipsy bag! If you've read here before, then you know by now that Sephora Play! was just NOT the right box for me. Nicole at Adventures of a Semper Fi Family talked me into trying Ipsy, and so far, so good!
Ipsy is the same as Sephora in that it is $10 a month for 5 products. You complete a beauty survey when you first join so that Ipsy can get to know your preferences better. After watching a few You Tube unboxing videos, I think that Ipsy works similar to Stitchfix in that everyone gets something pretty different, depending on your preferences. There was only one product in common between all of the bags that I've seen so far.
Ipsy also asks for you to review the products online so that they know what to change in the future for your glam bags. My next bag is set to arrive in the next 15 days or so, and I'll let you know if there were any changes- good or bad. So, let's look at what was in my bag last month!
The bag was super silly! The theme was making your makeup routine over-easy, hence the egg painted by a Sanrio artist. I love that the bag is an actual bag vs. the drawstring bag from Sephora. I've been able to use this bag to throw into my purse or backpack. The only downside was that it looked like someone had spilled liquid foundation on the fabric of the zipper. It's not really noticeable, but I'd like to see improvement in this area.
This is the one product that was in everyone's glam bag. I know, I know- another black eyeliner! Ugh. However, it is from Ciate which makes really pretty nail polishes, so I was interested in trying it.
I received the Wonderwand Gel-Kohl Hybrid Liner in black. According to Ipsy, "You can literally create ANY eye look (from slept in and smudgy to razor sharp flicks) with this magic wand. It’s double-ended with a rich, inky black kohl formula on one side and a blending/smudging brush on the other."
I asked Ipsy to not send any more black eyeliners. Although I do love that this liner is versatile, I just don't want any more liners unless they're in fun colors like blue or purple.
I've tried two of Tony Moly's sheet masks before, and they really didn't improve my skin. I received the green tea mask and the lotus mask. According to Ipsy, "The three-layer pulp sheet masks are soaked with enriched hydrating essence that deliver moisture to revive dry and tired skin."
Don't be mad at me! I have not had 20 minutes to lay around to try these particular masks. I'm not expecting them to work miracles, but if you're overworked in life, these are fun to use when you need to tell yourself to just take a break and relax! I'm happy to have received these masks, and I did ask Ipsy to keep on sending me face masks!
You guys know that I LOVE EYESHADOW! I was SO excited to finally get a shadow since Sephora never sent me any! Whoever picked out the products for my bag nailed it with this shadow- gold is very flattering on blue eyed gals! According to Ipsy, "The intense pigment of these pressed powder eyeshadows works wet or dry to make your peepers pop, while the longwear formula remains crease-free."
This shadow is so buttery and beautiful, and a little definitely goes a long way. I know that some people don't like the way these sample sizes are packaged. It doesn't bother me much, but I would like to get a palette to put shadows and blushes in, as I'm hoping to continue my Ipsy service for a while! Do you have recommendations of blank palettes I can use to hold all of the little shadows?
So, Hempz, huh? I kind of died when I got this because, really? That logo?! I know that some of the health food stores carry the lotions from this brand, and I'm always on the hunt for a smoothing lip balm. According to Ipsy, "The super silky blend of hemp seed oil, shea butter, and avocado oil soaks into dry, chapped lips, leaving them ultra-smooth and smoochable for hours."
I really like this lip balm, and I also love that it was a full size! It is very moisturizing, and if I put it on at bedtime, I don't have to reapply when I wake up in the middle of the night. I would like them to change their logo because although it is made of hemp seed, I still feel a little odd about carrying it in my purse. I'd hate for my kids or students to see it out and think the wrong thing.
On to my last and FAVORITE product! I didn't think that I needed to try a new blush because I love my Cover Girl Cheekers and Maybelline Fit Me blushes. This one from Seraphine Botanicals is special though! According to Ipsy, "No muddy, muted color here. This multi-dimensional powder formula looks insanely flattering in all lighting scenarios! Lychee + Gold is infused with lychee and chamomile extracts for a super subtle, glowy flush of color."
I'm not planning to make any purchases of the products from my bag, except for this one! I never feel super confident in my appearance, but since I've started using this blush with just a little bronzer and some mascara, I actually find myself feeling pretty at times. So if a blush can make you look AND feel good, then I know it is a winner!
I absolutely loved my July bag! I got full sizes of multiple products which cost a whole lot more than the $10 I paid for the bag- that's impressive! I'm so excited to see what Ipsy has in store for me next!
Did you subscribe to a makeup service this month? Tell me what your favorite products were in July! I'll see you back here tomorrow for Try It Thursday- make sure you link up to share your favorite recipe of the week! See you soon!
