So long, farewell...

Hi everyone!

Thank you for stopping by today. I want to thank everyone in this awesome blog community for supporting me by reading and commenting on my blog. I've had a fun run with this blog, and it was a great outlet for me. My work schedule and responsibilities have changed, and I've found that with what little free time I have left, I'm glued to the computer or phone working on blog stuff.

I'm hoping to refocus my energy on my family and relaxation. Of course I want to keep up with all of you and your blogs, and I definitely plan to still be in the blog world as reader. Thank you again for all of your support, and I hope that you will keep in touch- follow along with me on Instagram.

Have a great weekend, and best wishes to you all!

Workin' It Wednesday: Fall Wardrobe

Happy Wednesday! Thanks for joining me today as I link up with Erika for another round of Workin' It Wednesday! Today is all about our fall wardrobe. If you read the post I did last month for Ladies Who Link, then you got to see some of my recent back to school purchases.

One staple that I live in is a chambray shirt. Last year, I shared 3 ways that I can style my shirt throughout the fall.

After some summer shopping, I now own all 3 pieces to recreate this outfit, and I'm so excited!

And you can bet that I'll be wearing some of the looks from THIS WIWW post again!

I need to track down a leopard scarf to make this look happen!

Now that school is back in session, I'm hoping that this doesn't happen!

To keep from falling into a rut, I'm going to attempt Stephanie's Dresstember Challenge! I've already got my outfits planned out- now let's just hope the weather cooperates!

What are you most excited to wear this fall? Tell me in the comments below!

Have a great Wednesday! I'm going to take a break from my usual recipe share tomorrow, and I'll be back on Friday with an announcement. See you then!

Show and Tell Tuesday: What's In Your Bag?

Hi everyone! I'm linking up with Andrea at Momfessionals today to share what's in my purse! (Warning- it's pretty boring!)

I'm pretty much a crossbody bag only type person these days. It is so nice to not have to carry anything in my bag for the kids, so I can get away with carrying a much smaller bag. I got this Steve Madden bag from TJ Maxx last year, and I rotate it out with about 3 other bags throughout the year.

THIS bag is similar from Target:

Earlier this summer, I opted for a new wallet from Marshalls. I'm in LOVE! It has a compartment for cash, coins, coupons, and receipts! It really helps me stay organized, and since I'm a big Ibotta user, I love that I can keep track of my receipts without cluttering my desk. It is similar to THIS one.

I've also been carrying around one of my Ipsy makeup bags. If you missed my August glam bag review, check it out HERE

In my makeup bag, I keep a baggie of Dentek flossers in case of post-meal emergencies.

I also keep a pack of ELF Shine Eraser Blotting Sheets to keep my skin in check.

I also have the Hempz Ultra Moisturizing Herbal Lip Balm that I received in my July Ipsy bag.

I'm a big germophobe, so I always have some hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works on hand.

Finally, I have some Starbucks gift cards from last year's students that still need to be spent, and I also always have to keep my prescriptions for my colitis with me. And that is literally IT! I think that carrying a smaller bag forces me to keep things in check, so it is really hard to let it get too messy.

What do you carry in your bag? Tell me in the comments below!

And, if you want to see what ideas I have for my closet this fall, stop by today's Workin' It Wednesday post. I will not be posting my usual recipe tomorrow and will be returning on Friday with an announcement. See you then!

Tuesday Training: Week 37

Hi everyone! I'm getting back into the swing of things with school and figuring out my workout schedule. Earlier this summer, I was getting way too tight in my hips and started searching for some stretching videos. This video is a part of their 21 day summer fitness challenge, and I love that Popsugar incorporates stretching into their schedules. I think these stretches are great any time, but I especially love it before I go for a run. So, make sure you stop and take some time to stretch today: Full Body Stretching Exercises

Check out all of the Tuesday Trainings HERE!

Have a great day!

Life With the Lees: Weekend Recap 9.11.17

Happy Monday! I'm happy to report that we are all finally starting our first day of school here in Houston today!

Over the weekend, Ari took to the task of giving all of her horses last names and recording them all on an "attendance" sheet. There may be a horse or two with the last name, "John Cena" as in "Starr John Cena."

We headed to Target to get our flu shots for the season (FYI, you get a $5 gift card for every flu shot. Our insurance covered our shots, so we got paid $10 to get our shots! The kids got theirs at the pediatrician's office a few weeks back.) We perused the toy aisles and took some photos to share with Santa.

Our cowboy needed a new belt, so we hit up Cavender's.

I used to make intricate note cards with pictures and captions for Trip's lunchboxes, but I have zero time for that these days. Instead, the kids are happy to settle for stickers. I keep a big stack of dollar sticker books for different seasons or with different characters. On Saturday, I went ahead and made up their napkins for the first week back and keep them in a drawer in our island where I pack lunches.

I gave into peer pressure and pulled out my autumn candles!

I usually buy candles from Target and Marshalls, but I have 2 really yummy ones from my neighbor. Before she passed, she would drop off a new candle from Bath and Body Works every month. It is nice to have a sweet reminder of our friend.

The weather was gorgeous, so the boys decided to take care of the lawn on Saturday afternoon.

Ari got out her jump rope while the boys worked.

Jagger and I hung out on the lawn and watched.

 All of my kiddos!

I tried a new recipe and made peanut butter oatmeal blondies with applesauce.

We wrapped up Saturday with the kids trying the new Pink Camo 'n Cream flavor from Blue Bell. It is strawberry, chocolate, and cream cheese, and the kids said it was delish!

Yesterday was spent finalizing plans for the school week, wrapping up chores, and meal planning.

And, as today is 9/11, I wanted to include the quote from Mr. Rogers that applies to so many of the scary experiences our kids are exposed to these days:

I am grateful every day to live in our beautiful country. I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Monday, and I'll see you back here tomorrow. See you soon!

Friday Favorites

Hi everyone! Happy Friday! It's been nice to get back to work, and I'm so excited to meet my new students on Monday! With the start of the school year comes the return of some of my favorite shows. So today, I want to share five of my favorite shows currently on my DVR!

1) Real Housewives of Orange County

You guys know that I live for all things Housewives, but I think I'd be content to watch the O.C. version all year. Love her or hate her, you can't deny that Vicki is pure television gold. "Why would you send a FAMILY VAN for 6 people!?!" This season, I'm still team Vicki and Kelly. I think Meghan is stirring the pot. Do you have a favorite wife this season?

2) Flipping Out

I've been a Jeff Lewis fan since the very beginning, and I've watched him on all of his spin-off shows, too. Basically, he's my spirit animal. This season has Jeff and Gage becoming parents, so it'll be fun to see how his overly sarcastic attitude changes (or doesn't!) when the baby arrives! Zoila and Jenny make for great sidekicks, and I love seeing how Jeff works his magic on some celebrity homes.

3) Wheel of Fortune

You may remember that I went to an audition for my favorite game show back in June (and that my mom stole my spotlight in the local newspaper!) They haven't called me yet, so I'm thinking of making a video audition to send in instead. Until then, Robert and the kids have me practicing 6 nights a week!

4) Below Deck

If Jeff Lewis' daughter inherits his personality, she may be just like Kate Chastain, my favorite chief stewardess! The woman can match a person's personality with a font! This year's Mediterranean spin-off was pretty stellar, but I'm so glad to have Kate and Captain Lee back in my life! Let's see how many people get fired before the end of the season!

5) Vanderpump Rules: Jax and Brittany Take Kentucky

Y'all. This is so bad but so good. I live for the regular Vanderpump Rules crew. Who wouldn't love almost 40 year olds still working a job most people had in college? Taking a California boy and putting him on his girlfriend's mammaw's farm in Kentucky? How could I NOT watch!?

What shows are you watching these days? Are you a Bravo-holic like me? Tell me in the comments below!

Try It Thursday: Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

Happy Thursday! I'm so happy to head back to work today after a typical weekend turned into a 12 day break. The kids will finally start back to school on Monday, so I'm going to whip up an easy back to school treat to celebrate. I've shared my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe before, and while I love cookies, I love turning the recipe into bar form- it makes a small bite seem a little more substantial. Scroll down for the recipe!

Ingredients:
* 1 and 1/8 cups flour
* 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1 softened stick of butter
* ~1/3 cup sugar (or 1/4 + 1/8 cup)
* ~1/3 cup packed brown sugar (or 1/4 + 1/8 cup)
* 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1 egg
* A little over 3/4 cup of chocolate chips

Directions:
* Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
* Beat the butter, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and egg until mixed.
* Add in flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until combined.
* Add in your chocolate chips and mix.
* Grease an 8" square pan. Add the cookie dough to the pan.
* Bake for ~20 - 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
* Let the cookie cake cool and cut into squares. An 8" pan will give you approximately 16 medium size bars or 25 mini bars.
* Enjoy!

What do your kids love for an after-school sweet? Tell me in the comments below, and make sure you check out the recipes from the other bloggers. Don't forget that you can check out all of the Try It Thursday recipes HERE! See you back here for Friday Favorites!

What I Wore Wednesday: Ipsy Glam Bag Review August 2017

Happy Wednesday! Today is now officially my last day of "break" due to the hurricane, and I'm happy to get back into a routine. Thanks for joining me today as I link up with The Pleated Poppy, Get Your Pretty On, and Andrea at Living on Cloud Nine as I share my thoughts of my second Ipsy bag!

I received the "Peace, Love, Lipstick" bag this time. It is cute with a tassel, and it is a smaller but taller bag compared to last month's bag. I'm still currently using last month's bag in my purse, but this one would be great for travel or to hold hair products.

I received a pair of CLIV's Max Hyaluronic Masks. According to Ipsy, "Hyaluronic acid is one of the best methods of attracting and retaining moisture. This mask is 50% hyaluronic acid solution, which means it will definitely quench and refresh the thirstiest skin. It’s a heavy-hitter in the anti-aging arsenal too.The organically certified tencel sheet mask is infused with a proprietary botanical blends including green tea callus extract, witch hazel, and rose water. Basically, the recipe for chill."

I was kind of offended that Ipsy sent me a mask aimed at fighting aging and wrinkles, but I tried it out after a day at the pool. This mask is much gooier than the TONYMOLY masks. The mask was very saturated, but it did not drip down my face like TONYMOLY does. The mask was very large, and it did have a strong perfume scent. It made my skin feel soft, but I wasn't amazed by it to want to try it again.

I was really excited to receive Aurora's Pro Color Corrector in Pistachio. I deal with a lot of redness around my nose and chin, so I was hoping this was going to do the trick. Ispy touts this product saying, "The whisper-light cream is perfect for layering beneath foundation, but works fab solo too. Covering breakouts can be tricky, but pair this stuff and a concealing brush and your blemish will be wayyy less obvi."

Apparently I was not the only Ipsy gal who was disappointed in this concealer. I felt like it was chalky and didn't cover anything. Other ladies have concurred that the consistency was off and that it didn't do much in the coverage department. Darn!

Whoever curates my Ipsy bag does a great job paying attention to my reviews and likes! You know I have an addiction to eyeshadow, so of course I was thrilled to try out theBalm Cosmetics' Volume 2 eyeshadow in "Kuwakaribisha." Ipsy says, "Our fave new way to get glowing: this pale peachy powder is super pigmented, shimmery but not sparkly, and is totally buildable (in case you want your highlight to be extra extra). We apply this underneath our brow bones and at the inner corners of our eyes whenever we need to wake things up a lil bit."

There was a darker, caramel shade of this shadow sent out to some people, and I wish I had gotten that one! This one is fine for a highlight, but it's too light for me to use as an all over color. I hope I continue to receive shadows to try, but hopefully they will be more fun colors!

So this product was a total surprise! I was not expecting to receive a makeup brush, but how fun and different! According to Ipsy, "The gorgeous teal-shaded brush will up your blending game and add a pop of bling to your morning routine."

It is a part of a set that will run you over $325, so the quality of this brush is pretty nice. I don't feel like this exact brush is good for blending- I think it works best for applying all over color. For blending, I'm going to stick with my Real Techniques brushes.

The final product is one that I've been wanting from a makeup service this entire year! I'm so glad that Ipsy delivered! I received Lancome's Monsieur Big Mascara. Ipsy says, "Ain’t nobody got time to keep re-applying mascara! We took Monsieur Big Mascara for a test run and it lasted all day. It even still looked fresh after hitting the snooze button the next morning. Thanks to the smudge and flake-free formula, you can apply and forget it. No stressing about smears."

Hmmm...I'm going to have to disagree with that description. It definitely gives you pretty lashes, but this formula was not what I was hoping for. I ended my days with flakes of mascara in my eyes which was really uncomfortable and frustrating. I would love to continue to receive mascaras from Ipsy, but I don't think Lancome is a match for me.

So, I've gone back into my Ipsy profile and changed some of my product favorites, colors, etc., and I hope that will ensure that my 3rd bag is more catered to my needs. I did sneak a peek at the September bag, and it is CUTE!

Did you subscribe to a makeup service last month? Tell me what your favorite products were in August! I'll see you back here tomorrow for Try It Thursday- make sure you link up to share your favorite recipe of the week! See you soon!
